Hum (film)

Hum (Hinedi: हम, English: We/Us) is a 1991 Hindi action crime film directed by Mukul S. Anand. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan. This was the most successful film for the famous super star, Bachchan in the early '90s before he announced his temporary retirement (for five years) immediately after its release. He also won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for it in 1992. The film ranked second among the top grossers of 1991 at the box office and was declared a blockbuster hit. Mukul S. Anand had considered and discussed a potential scene for this movie with , where Amitabh Bachchan's character would help Govinda get a seat in the Police Academy. Anand discarded the scene, because he did not find it suitable. But felt the scene had the potential to develop into a script for a possible feature film. The discarded scene became the foundation for the 1995 Tamil movie Baashha where character in the film, Manikkam, helps his sister get admission in the medical college she had applied for and it was planned to weave the rest of the film's story around the scene using all the integral key plot elements of Hum.

Hum (Serbian Cyrillic: Хум) is a mountain on the border of Serbia and Montenegro, between towns of Sjenica and Rožaje, on the eastern edge of Pešter plateau. Its highest peak Krstača has an elevation of 1,756 meters above sea level.

Honk!

Honk! is a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling, incorporating a message of tolerance. The book and lyrics are by Anthony Drewe and music is by George Stiles (of the British songwriting duo Stiles and Drewe). The musical is set in the countryside and features Ugly – a cygnet who is mistaken as an ugly duckling upon falling into his mother's nest and is rejected by everyone but Ida (his mother), a sly tomcat who only befriends him out of hunger, and several other barnyard characters.

The musical debuted at The Watermill Theatre in England in 1993. The West End production opened in 1999 and won the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical.

The show is frequently produced by schools, as well as regional and community theatre groups in Britain, the U.S. and Canada.

Production history

A version of Honk! opened in 1993 at The Watermill Theatre in Newbury, England, originally titled The Ugly Duckling or the Aesthetically Challenged Farmyard Fowl. It returned to the Watermill Theatre in December 2007. Both productions were directed by Steven Dexter.

Honk is an American rock band, based in Laguna Beach, California. They are best known for providing the soundtrack for the surf documentary film, Five Summer Stories.

Career

The band was formalized in 1970, recorded some demo songs, and then recorded their first album for a $1500 fee. It was the soundtrack for the "cinematic cult classic" surf film,Five Summer Stories. In the early 1970s they toured with The Beach Boys, Chicago, Jackson Browne and Dave Mason before splitting up in 1975. The band reformed in 1985 and continue to occasionally perform.

Members

Honk's drummer, Tris Imboden, has also been a member of several other notable groups. This includes the Kenny Loggins Band, which was featured in the Number One soundtracks for prominent 1980s films, Caddyshack and Footloose. He has been the full-time drummer for the multi-platinum Chicago since 1990.
