Hugh Trevor

Hugh Trevor (1903–1933), born Hugh Trevor-Thomas in 1903, was an American actor whose short career began at the very end of the silent era in 1927. He would appear in nineteen films in the scant six years during which he was active. He did not fare well with the advent of talking pictures, and retired from the industry in 1931. His life was cut short when he unexpectedly died from complications following appendectomy surgery in 1933.

Personal

Trevor was born on October 28, 1903, in Yonkers, New York. He graduated from the college preparatory school, Columbia Extension Institute, he went on to study at Harvard University. After college, he began a successful insurance business. In 1925, through his uncle, producer William LeBaron, he went to sell an insurance policy to the film star, Richard Dix. Dix was impressed Trevor, and arranged for him to screen test, which Dix himself directed.

Film career

Subsequent to his screen test, Trevor made his film debut in the 1927 film, Ranger of the North, where he played second fiddle to the dog star, Ranger. Although he would work for several studios, the bulk of his films were produced by F.B.O. Productions (FBO – also known as FBO Pictures Corporation), and later by RKO Radio Pictures, after FBO was merged with RCA to from RKO. While he never worked with Dix, he did work with other famous film figures of that era, including Mary Astor, Bryant Washburn, Chester Conklin, Noah Beery, the comedy team of Wheeler & Woolsey (Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey), Betty Compson, and Lowell Sherman. In 1929, Trevor was romantically linked with actress Aileen Pringle, following their working together on the film, Beau Broadway the prior year. During his film career he was also romantically linked with another co-star, Betty Compson, who at one point was considering marrying him (after her divorce from James Cruze).

Hugh of Jabala

Hugh was the bishop of Jabala, a town in Syria, during the 12th century. When the County of Edessa fell to Zengi in 1144, Raymond, prince of Antioch, sent Hugh to report the news to Pope Eugene III. In response, Eugene issued the papal bull Quantum praedecessores the following year calling for the Second Crusade. Hugh also told the historian Otto of Freising about Prester John, the mythical Nestorian Christian priest-king of India, who was intending to help the Crusader States against the Saracens. Otto included the story in his Chronicon of 1145; it is the first recorded mention of the Prester John legend.

Hugh I of Cyprus (or Hugues I de Lusignan) (1194/1195 – January 10, 1218) succeeded to the throne of Cyprus on April 1, 1205 underage upon the death of his elderly father Aimery of Lusignan, King of Cyprus and Jerusalem. His mother was Eschiva of Ibelin, heiress of that branch of Ibelins who had held Bethsan and Ramleh.

R. U. Reddy

R. U. Reddy (Winthrop Roan, Jr.) is a mutant and a member of the Thunderiders. He first appeared in Captain America #269 (May 1982), and was created by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck. Winthrop Roan, Jr. was the singer in a rock band known as Ruff Stuff. With Honcho and Wolf, he formed the professional motorcyclist team called Team America, which was eventually known as the Thunderiders. R.U. Exposure to radioactive isotopes caused Dr. Henri Sorel to mutate into an inhuman being who could generate blasts of nuclear energy, and warped his personality. The Puppet Master agreed to assist Radion in exchange for his help. Radion amplified the radiation in the Puppet Master's clay, enabling him to use Thor to attack the Fantastic Four. When Wundarr the Aquarian arrived to help, he absorbed Radion's powers, causing Radion to flee. Sorel then constructed a suit of armor to contain his energies and protect himself from reaching critical mass. He renamed himself the Ravager and traveled to London. He is also known as the Atom.
