Fire (Wild Orchid album)

Fire was the third album by Wild Orchid, which was scheduled to be released on June 19, 2001. This was the group's final release with Ferguson, as well as their final release as a trio and with RCA Records.

Production

The album was recorded from 1999 to 2000, with several of the tracks being co-written and co-produced by 'N Sync member JC Chasez, Oliver Leiber, Robbie Neville, 3AM and Sweden's Epicenter. Stefanie Ridel told them, "The album's lighter, more fun - and more in step with how we feel about ourselves." She also stated that the album would be filled with energy and spirit, in comparison to the group's previous two albums, which she thought were overly serious.

Release and promotion

Promotion for the album began back in 1999 while Wild Orchid was in the midst of recording it. They performed "World Without You" and "Candle Light" while opening for Cher's Do You Believe? Tour, they performed the title track "Fire" while opening for 'N Sync's 'N Sync in Concert tour during their winter shows and they performed "World Without You" on Great Pretenders. "It's All Your Fault" was also featured in the 2000 film What Women Want.

Fire and Water (Lexx)

In the sci-fi television series Lexx, the fictional planet "Fire" is the afterlife for all evil souls, and the location for much of Season 3. It shares a tight mutual orbit and an atmosphere with the Planet "Water", which is the afterlife for all good souls in the Lexx universe. Both worlds are locked in a perpetual war.

The souls on Water and Fire have no memory of how they arrived there; they simply "woke up" there one day. They are incapable of sexual reproduction and there are no children on either planet. When anyone dies on Planet Fire or Planet Water, they go to a spiritual holding cell in which time stands still, giving the illusion that no time has passed nomatter how long they have been there. When space opens up they "wake up" again whole and healthy on their respective home planet.

Fire is destroyed by the Lexx under the command of Xev at the end of Season 3. With Fire gone, Prince can not reincarnate so he instead chooses to possess the Lexx and destroy Water. When Water and Fire are both destroyed, it is revealed that both planets were actually on the other side of the Sun in our solar system and that all the souls contained on both worlds will be reincarnated on Earth.

Yin Yang Yo!

Yin Yang Yo! is an American/Canadian flash animated television series created by Bob Boyle II (also the creator of Nick Jr. original series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!) and produced by Jetix Animation Concepts. It is the third Jetix-original show. It premiered on September 4, 2006 on Jetix in the United States with a sneak peek airing on August 26, 2006. The show debuted on Jetix in the United Kingdom on February 5, 2007 after a sneak peek preview on January 27, 2007 while making its Canadian television premiere on Family Channel on March 25, 2007. The series is supplied with writers and animators' staff associated with Fairly OddParents, 6teen, Clone High and Danny Phantom. Head writer Steve Marmel, an anime fan, took an inspiration from various anime and anime-influenced shows such as Teen Titans and FLCL. stars two anthropomorphic rabbits named Yin and Yang, and their sensei-like panda figure named Yo, a master of fictional mystical martial arts called Woo Foo.

In 2007, the show was nominated for British Academy Children's Award by the BAFTA in the International category, but lost to Stephen Hillenburg's SpongeBob SquarePants. From its launch in June 1, 2011 to late 2012, Disney XD Canada aired re-runs of the series.

Dave (TV channel)

Dave is a television channel owned by UKTV, which is available in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The channel is available on cable, IPTV, Freeview and some satellite platforms. The channel took the name Dave in October 2007, but it had been on air under various identities and formats since October 1998.

History

UK Gold Classics and UK Gold 2

UK Gold Classics, UKTV's first digital-only channel, was launched on 2 October 1998 and was only broadcast from Friday to Sunday on Sky Digital from 6pm to 2am. Around this time UK Gold began to move towards newer programmes instead of older ones; the 'classics' line-up included a number of early shows, including some black-and-white programmes, which had been acquired in the early years of the UK Gold service. They also showed some recent shows from the main channel, but the main part of the channel was older shows from the early years of UK Gold. On weekdays, the channel was off air, showing a still caption of all the UKTV channels and start-up times.

In the Long Grass

In the Long Grass was their sixth and final studio album by The Boomtown Rats, released in 1984 in the UK and 1985 in the US.

The Boomtown Rats' least commercially favourable effort, it failed to appear altogether in the UK Albums Chart, but did reach No. 188 in the US Billboard 200.

2 Hot

2 Hot! is an album by American vocalist duo Peaches & Herb. The album was issued in 1978. It was the strongest performing album on the Billboard charts, where it topped the R&B Albums chart and reached the second position on the Pop Albums chart. 2 Hot notably featured the disco smash, "Shake Your Groove Thang" and the #1 R&B/Pop smash ballad, "Reunited."

Reception

The Allmusic review by Andrew Hamilton awarded the album 3 stars stating "Disco jams and sweet ballads are featured on Peaches & Herb's return to the charts after a long absence... This new Peaches oozed sexuality, and her voice could raise the dead... The duo's specialty were ballads, and "Fours a Traffic Jam" is a beauty, Fame's sweet falsetto and Greene's sexy phrasings are intoxicating."

HOT-2

HOT-2, or 2,5-dimethoxy-4-(β-ethylthio)-N-hydroxyphenethylamine is a psychedelic phenethylamine of the 2C family. It was presumably first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin and reported in his book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines i Have Known And Loved).

Chemistry

HOT-2's full chemical name is 2-[4-(2-ethylthio)-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl–N–hydroxyethanamine. It has structural properties similar to 2C-T-2 and to other drugs in the HOT- series, with the most closely related compounds being HOT-7 and HOT-17.

General information

The dosage range of HOT-2 is typically 10-18 mg and its duration is approximately 6–10 hours according to Shulgin. HOT-2 produces visuals and moving, flowing lights. It also causes euphoria and increases blood pressure.
