Steel (TV channel)

Steel was an Italian entertainment TV channel, owned by NBCUniversal and broadcast on Premium Gallery, a Digital terrestrial television service in Italy. It started broadcasting on January 19, 2008 at 13:30 (CET Time).

It is devoted to a male audience and broadcasts action and science fiction / fantasy TV series and movies, with a branded block called Syfy.

At the moment, Steel is not available on Satellite television, and is not available outside Italy.

Influences

""Steel"" borrows concepts and names from the manga ""Berserk"", for example the lyrics of "Band of the Hawk": 'We are a mercenary band, led by Griffith, the white hawk.' Whereas "Iron Hand" refers to Guts's iron arm, it also mentions the 'Black Swordsman'.

Howl

"Howl" is a poem written by Allen Ginsberg in 1955, published as part of his 1956 collection of poetry titled Howl and Other Poems, and dedicated to Carl Solomon.

Ginsberg began work on "Howl" as early as 1954. In the Paul Blackburn Tape Archive at the University of California, San Diego, Ginsberg can be heard reading early drafts of his poem to his fellow writing associates. "Howl" is considered to be one of the great works of American literature. It came to be associated with the group of writers known as the Beat Generation.

There is no foundation to the myth that "Howl" was written as a performance piece and later published by poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti of City Lights Books. This myth was perpetrated by Ferlinghetti as part of the defense's case during the poem's obscenity trial. Upon the poem's release, Ferlinghetti and the bookstore's manager, Shigeyoshi Murao, were charged with disseminating obscene literature, and both were arrested. On October 3, 1957, Judge Clayton W. Horn ruled that the poem was not obscene.

Howl (Beware of Darkness EP)

Howl is the debut EP by American alt-rock band Beware of Darkness, released April 17, 2012 under exclusive license to Bright Antenna Records. The album was made available as a Digital Download, and CD available only at shows.

SPIN Magazine declared the lead single, "Howl", "[a] Zeppelin-riffing, bluesy face-stomper."

Howl is a 2010 American experimental film which explores both the Six Gallery debut and the 1957 obscenity trial of 20th-century American poet Allen Ginsberg's noted poem Howl. The film is written and directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman and stars James Franco as Ginsberg.

Plot

Howl explores the life and works of 20th-century American poet, Allen Ginsberg. Constructed in a nonlinear fashion, the film juxtaposes historical events with a variety of cinematic techniques. It reconstructs the early life of Ginsberg during the 1940s and 1950s (as portrayed by James Franco). It also re-enacts Ginsberg's debut performance of "Howl" at the Six Gallery Reading on October 7, 1955 in black-and-white. The reading was the first important public manifestation of the Beat Generation and helped to herald the West Coast literary revolution that became known as the San Francisco Renaissance. In addition, parts of the poem are interpreted through animated sequences. Finally, these events are juxtaposed with color images of the 1957 obscenity trial of San Francisco poet and City Lights Bookstore co-founder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, who was the first person to publish "Howl" in Howl and Other Poems.
