Home directory

A home directory is a file system directory on a multi-user operating system containing files for a given user of the system. The specifics of the home directory (such as its name and location) is defined by the operating system involved; for example, Windows systems between 2000 and 2003 keep home directories in a folder called Documents and Settings.

Description

A user's home directory is intended to contain that user's files; including text documents, music, pictures or videos, etc. It may also include their configuration files of preferred settings for any software they have used there and might have tailored to their liking: web browser bookmarks, favorite desktop wallpaper and themes, passwords to any external services accessed via a given software, etc. The user can install executable software in this directory, but it will only be available to users with permission to this directory. The home directory can be organized further with the use of sub-directories.

The content of a user's home directory is protected by file system permissions, and by default is accessible to all authenticated users and administrators. Any other user that has been granted administrator privileges has authority to access any protected location on the filesystem including other users home directories.

Sports (Huey Lewis and the News album)

Sports is the third album by American rock band Huey Lewis and the News, released in 1983. It reached number one on the Billboard 200 on June 30, 1984, and catapulted the band to international fame. The album has been certified 7× Platinum by the RIAA. Sports was ranked number 2 on the Billboard year-end album chart for 1984. The album spawned four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and a fifth went top 20. Sports did very well internationally where most of its singles charted in the top 40 or above in multiple countries.

The album was self-produced and recorded promptly after the modest breakthrough success of the band's second album, Picture This. However, due to reorganization and internal issues at the band's label, Chrysalis, the band held back the master tapes, choosing to perform at small venues to showcase the new material while the matters were resolved. Once Chrysalis got their affairs in order and agreement in place by the band's management, the master tapes were handed over for production. Sports was finally released in September 1983 and proceeded a slow climb up the charts throughout late 1983 and early 1984.

KCSP (AM)

KCSP (610 AM, "610 Sports") is a sports/talk radio station located in Kansas City, Missouri. The Entercom-owned station broadcasts on 610 kHz. Its transmitter is located in Prairie Village, Kansas, and studios are located in Mission, Kansas.

KCSP AM is a class B regional station, with a broadcasting power of 5,000 Watts in both the daytime and nighttime, using a non-directional antenna (1 tower).

Although the station had the slogan "The Football Channel" when it began in June 2003, it is currently the flagship station of MLB's Kansas City Royals, whose rights it reacquired for the Entercom radio network in 2008 which had held the rights on KMBZ before. The Kansas Jayhawks radio network also appears on KCSP, which switched from covering the Missouri Tigers to Kansas in 2006, sending the Tigers broadcasts to KMBZ.

History

1922-1967 - WDAF (Full Service)

The Kansas City Star signed on experimental station 9XAB in 1922, licensed at 833 kHz, as part of a rivalry with other newspapers in town. Popular Science magazine noted the station in its March 1922 issue for airing weather and market reports at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and concerts in the evening. The Star adopted the WDAF call letters May 16, 1922. WDAF bounced around various frequencies, traveling to 750, 730, 680, 820 and 810 kHz. WDAF moved to 610 kHz in 1928, splitting time with station WOQ. WDAF joined the NBC radio network before moving to 610 kHz, running both Red & Blue programs up until 1930, when they became a primary NBC Red affiliate.

Sports 11 (Mauritius)

Sports 11 is a sports Channel owned and broadcast by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. It broadcast sports show, reportages of altheles, Live Football Matches (along with its sister channel MBC 3 ) and Live telecast of Horse Racing.There is also health programs for a better lifestyle.
