Hombal

Hombal (Kannada: ಹೊಂಬಳ ) is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Gadag taluk of Gadag district in Karnataka.

Schooling

Hombal has three schools which consists of a boys school, a girls school and a co.ed high school. The schools are all government schools. They have some good grounds as well.There is one Shankarlinga High high school run by a private organization And now newly inaugurated Government High school and Government ITI College by DGET

Road system

The inner road system in Hombal is like any other rural city with kachha roads.The roads can certainly be improved to a good extent. From September 2015 connected with the state highway no 45 (Challakere -Arabhavi State high way)

Occupation of people

The males are mostly involved in agriculture and heavily depend on rainfall for their yield. Hombal village has been the origin of famous people like BHARAT RATNA Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Poet Nadoj Channaveer Kanavi,Cricketer Sunil Joshi, Famous writer G B Joshi( Jadabharat ), Bharat Natyam Exponent Late Shankar Hombal (Bhopal).This is a village of intellectuals like Late Dr. G. S Kulkarni ( General Surgeon ) and Hindu ( Advaita ) scholars like Shankarbhat Agnihotri and Devarao Kulkarni and Famous stone structure maker Shri Shankar shilpi pattar
