War, Inc.

War, Inc. is a 2008 American political action comedy film starring John Cusack and directed by Joshua Seftel. Cusack also co-wrote and produced the film.

Plot

The film opens in a bar in Nunavut when hitman Brand Hauser (John Cusack) shoots and kills three men at the bar. He takes pictures of the men with his phone, sends the pictures, and then throws the phone into a burning garbage can.

Hauser is then seen on a plane getting directions and life advice from the on-board navigation system, Jerry (Montel Williams). He turns on his screen to receive a video call from the former Vice President (Dan Aykroyd) who gives him his next mission: to terminate Omar Sharif (Lyubomir Neikov), the CEO of the oil company Ugigas in Ugigistan. He tells Hauser that he will be working under the Viceroy, whose identity is still being withheld until further notice. He also tells Hauser that his cover will be a trade show host, working with Tamerlane, a huge corporation that specializes in advertising. He must produce a trade show and a gala wedding as a finale, and still manage to kill Omar Sharif before he makes his plane back to Ugigistan.

War Inc.

War Inc. is a real-time strategy computer game developed by Optik Software. It was published by Interactive Magic on August 31, 1997. It was fairly unique at the time in its incorporation of a rudimentary stock market, placing the player directly in control of research and development, and the ability to completely customize units by using a variety of components.

Reception

War Inc. (Project Airos in Australia and Germany) received an overall rating of 66% from GameRankings from three different review sites. While it was panned as being "mediocre" for not meeting its potential by GameSpot,Game Revolution praised it for "flexibility to create a nearly unlimited variety of units".

Religious war

A religious war or holy war (Latin: bellum sacrum) is a war primarily caused or justified by differences in religion. The account of the conquest of Canaan by the Israelites in the Book of Joshua, the Muslim conquests of the 7th and 8th centuries, and the Christian Crusades (11th to 13th centuries) and Wars of Religion (16th and 17th centuries) are the classic examples but a religious aspect has been part of warfare as early as the battles of the Mesopotamian city-states.

In the modern era, arguments are common over the extent to which religious, economic, or ethnic aspects of a conflict predominate: examples include the Yugoslav Wars and the civil war in Sudan. In several ongoing conflicts including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Syrian civil war, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, religious arguments are overtly present but variously described as fundamentalism or religious extremism depending upon the observer's sympathies.

Criteria for classification

The European war against Muslim expansion was recognized as a "religious war" or bellum sacrum from the beginning. The early modern wars against the Ottoman Empire were seen as a seamless continuation of this conflict by contemporaries. The term "religious war" was used to describe, controversially at the time, what are now known as the European wars of religion, and especially the then-ongoing Seven Years' War, from at least the mid 18th century.

Holy War (locomotive)

Holy War is a preserved narrow gauge steam locomotive built in 1902, based at the Bala Lake Railway in North Wales. It was the last steam locomotive to operate in a Welsh slate quarry.

Construction

Holy War was built in 1902 by the Hunslet Engine Company of Leeds, with works number 779.

Working life

Holy War was delivered to the Dinorwic Slate Quarry in North Wales in May 1902. It spent its whole working life in the quarry, alongside other Hunslet engines including Dolbadarn, George B, Maid Marian, Red Damsel, Wild Aster, Alice and Irish Mail. Holy War was named in 1908, one of the quarry's locomotives with names commemorating racehorses which author and Member of Parliament Sir Gerald Nabarro called "extraordinary" and "eccentric".

By 1967 Holy War was the last steam locomotive to remain in operation in a North Wales slate quarry, being withdrawn in November 1967. The quarry switched to lorries when Holy War was sold, and closed in 1969.

Preservation

When steam operations ended at the quarry Holy War was sold to J Marshfield-Hutchings. Along with parts of Alice which had been bought for spares, Holy War went to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in March 1970, where it was the Quainton Railway Society's only narrow gauge locomotive. After being used in Buckinghamshire it was purchased by Rev Alan Cliff and returned to Wales in 1975, going to the Bala Lake Railway. Restoration of Holy War was completed in 1978 and the locomotive entered traffic on Good Friday 1979. It was out of service for boiler repairs in 1985-87. The Bala Lake Railway bought Holy War from Cliff in 1989. A gala was held in June 2002 to mark the locomotive's 100th anniversary.

Holy War (Villanova vs. St. Joe's)

The Holy War is a basketball rivalry game in the Philadelphia Big 5 between Saint Joseph's University and Villanova University, which is considered the most intense of all the Big 5 games. It's called the "Holy War" because both universities have Roman Catholic religious affiliations: Villanova University is Augustinian, and Saint Joseph's University is run by the Jesuit order. Recent games between the two schools have been played either at the Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania when Saint Joseph's hosts the game, or at The Pavilion when Villanova is the host. However, the Hawks hosted the Wildcats at the newly expanded Hagan Arena on Saint Joseph's campus on December 17, 2011 and will continue to do so in future years.

Villanova leads the all-time series, 47–25 and 36–25 as members of the Big 5. Don DiJulia, athletic director at Saint Joseph's has called the rivalry the "Army-Navy of basketball".

Inc. (band)

inc. (formerly known as Teen Inc.) is an American music duo originally from Los Angeles formed by brothers Andrew and Daniel Aged. Their first full length album, No World, was released on February 19, 2013.

Musical career

inc. was formed as Teen Inc. around 2010 by brothers Andrew and Daniel Aged after a series of tours and session work with various artists. They produced, mixed, and self-released their first single, Fountains in 2010 along with the b-side "Friends of the Night".

They later released an EP titled 3 in 2011 under the name "Inc."

Their debut album, No World, was released under 4AD in February 2013. Two singles were released from the album: "The Place", which was featured in the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack, and "5 Days".

In February 2014 they released a collaboration single with English singer-songwriter, FKA twigs, titled "FKA x inc.". They also produced the song "One Time" for her debut album, LP1, released in August of 2014.

On December 1, 2014 they posted an unreleased demo from 2011 titled "Our Time" to their official YouTube account, along with the announcement that they would be releasing new music in 2015.
