Rope (1957 film)

Rope is a 1957 Australian television film. Broadcast live in Sydney, it was kinescoped/telerecorded for showing in Melbourne (these were the only Australian cities with TV at the time). Based on the play by Patrick Hamilton, it aired in a 70-minute time-slot on non-commercial ABC, and was a drama about two people who had committed murder. Full cast listing is unavailable, but the cast included John Meillon, Bruce Beeby and Don Pascoe. It was produced by William Sterling. According to an article in the 19 September 1957 edition of The Age, the broadcast was well received by viewers during its Sydney telecast, and producer Sterling was happy with the quality of the kinescope/telerecording.

State (magazine)

State.ie (formerly State Magazine) is an Irish website and formerly a monthly music magazine, which launched in April 2008 and ceased to print in January 2009 having published a total of ten issues. The magazine continues online and was voted Best Music Site in 2008 and Best Web Publication in 2010 in the Irish Web Awards. Originally the concept of the magazine involved a hard copy of which there was a charge to purchase, however after six issues it was decided to make the magazine's content free both online and in print. The first issue, April 2008, appeared on Irish shelves on 6 March 2008 and featured Michael Stipe of R.E.M. on the cover. This immediately garnered comparisons between the new magazine's similarities with Hot Press who featured Stipe on their cover at the same time, a move widely thought to be an attempt by Hot Press to stifle State's status as a serious 'alternative' to the more established local magazine. At a price of €5.50, State charged €2 more than Hot Press.

State (CTA Englewood Line station)

State was a station on the Englewood Branch of the Chicago 'L'. The station opened on November 3, 1905 and closed on September 2, 1973 as part of a group of budget-related CTA station closings.

Sacred

The word "sacred" descends from the Latin sacrum, which referred to the gods or anything in their power, and to sacerdos and sanctum, set apart. It was generally conceived spatially, as referring to the area around a temple.

Holy @$%*! (TV series)

Holy @#%*! was an extreme sports viral video reality television series which aired on Versus in the United States from 2009 to 2011. 13 episodes exist and aired on the channel until the spring of 2011, when it was removed from airing due to Versus coming into the purview of NBC Sports after Versus's owner Comcast was approved to take over NBCUniversal, and NBC Sports found low-brow clip programs like Holy @$%*! and Whacked Out Sports were inappropriate for what it saw as a serious contender against ESPN when it was re-branded as the NBC Sports Network in January 2012.

The program was purposefully titled so that the second word was bleeped when said on-air.

"Holy" is the fifth episode of the second series of British television sitcom, Bottom. It was first broadcast on 29 October 1992.

Synopsis

It is Christmas time in Hammersmith once again, and Richie and Eddie experience a Christmas miracle.

Plot

Note: There are now two different common versions of this episode - the original broadcast version and the extended version that appears on the series 2 DVD in some regions. Sections that appear only in the extended edition are noted in italics.

Eddie is awoken at 3:30am by Deck the Halls blaring from a tape recorder. It is Christmas morning in Hammersmith, and Richie has disguised himself as Santa Claus just to give himself lots of presents. Apparently, Richie performs this ritual every year, as Eddie has prepared a complex trap that leaves 'Santa' suspended by a noose. He only agrees to cut Richie loose after Richie pays him £10.

A bruised and battered 'Santa' makes his exit, with Richie appearing, in striped pajamas, mere seconds later. Ignoring Eddie's protests that he return to bed, Richie proceeds to open his presents, remarking that he has a huge pair of tights full of gifts while Eddie has an empty child's sock. Richie's gifts, however, are revealed to be individually wrapped ingredients for Christmas dinner, for which Richie insists on keeping track of for Santa's 'thank you' letter.
