Hollywood

Hollywood (/ˈhɒliwʊd/ HOL-ee-wuud) is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. The neighborhood is notable for its place as the home of the U.S. film industry, including several of its historic studios. Its name has come to be a metonym for the motion picture industry of the United States. Hollywood is also a highly ethnically diverse, densely populated, economically diverse neighborhood and retail business district.

Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It officially merged with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry began to emerge, eventually becoming the most recognizable film industry in the world.

History

Early history and development

In 1853, one adobe hut stood in Nopalera (Nopal field), named for the Mexican Nopal cactus indigenous to the area. By 1870, an agricultural community flourished. The area was known as the Cahuenga Valley, after the pass in the Santa Monica Mountains immediately to the north.

Hollywood (2002 film)

Hollywood is a 2002 Indian Kannada science fiction film written by Upendra and directed by Dinesh Babu. It starred Upendra in a triple role as Surendra, Upendra and US 47 (an android robot) along with the Australian actress Felicity Mason as Manisha. The movie was dubbed into Telugu the following year retaining the same title. The movie was shot entirely in Hollywood, California with a very few support cast, including Ananth Nag and a monkey called Lakshmi, voiced by Ramesh Bhat. The movie was also dubbed into Telugu, retaining the same title.

Plot

Upendra plays a lovelorn nerd Surendra who can do anything to get Manisha (Felicity Mason) to love him. Desperate to impress her and unable to do so himself, he seeks the help of his maverick scientist professor (Ananth Nag). The professor comes up with a clone of Surendra who will do the bit of impressing Manisha, and once the task is accomplished, the real Surendra will take over.

However, things go berserk after the professor gives Surendra's clone - an android robot - the ability to think and act like humans. He bestows the clone named US 47 with human discretion and human emotion. The idea of the clone backfires when US 47 starts using his discretion and falls in love with Manisha. Using his robotic strength and human intelligence, and of course the help of a lab monkey (Seenu), US 47 proves to be a formidable enemy to Surendra over Manisha. Now the mad professor, Surendra, his twin brother Upendra and Manisha need to get together to solve the problem.

Hollywood (Michael Bublé song)

"Hollywood", originally titled "Hollywood Is Dead", is a song by Canadian crooner Michael Bublé, released as the fifth and final single from his fourth studio album Crazy Love, and is the only from its re-release, The Hollywood Edition, which was released on October 25, 2010. "Hollywood" was released worldwide on September 7, 2010.

Background

Bublé described the song as being about his "tongue-in-cheek statement on the culture of celebrity," saying "People will do anything for their 15 minutes, and you have to remember who you are and why you wanted it. At the end of the day, you should be careful: You might get what you wish for." "Hollywood" was originally planned to be Crazy Love's third single and was reported to be released as a stand-alone single at a later date because the song did not fit the album thematically or stylistically. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at the fifty-fifth position, with 46,000 digital downloads in its first week. He performed "Hollywood" on The X Factor on October 31, 2010. He also performed the song on The Today Show on November 28 and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on December 12.

B.O.B. (video game)

B.O.B. (known in Japan as Space Funky B.O.B.) is a video game that was released in 1993. It is a side-scrolling game, a 2D shooter and a platform game.

History

B.O.B. was developed by Gray Matter Inc. and Foley Hi-Tech Systems, and published by Electronic Arts for both the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.The cover art for the EA packaging was illustrated by Marc Ericksen.

In August 2006, GameSpot reported that Electronic Arts would be also porting B.O.B. to the PlayStation Portable as part of EA Replay. It was released in North America on November 7, 2006.

On September 12, 2008 the source code of the SNES version became available as it was found on an eBay-bought hard drive.

Plot

When B.O.B. crashes his dad's space car on the way to pick up his date, he finds himself stranded on a hostile asteroid filled with enemies. By collecting power ups and using fast reflexes, B.O.B. tries to find his way off the asteroid and to his date. B.O.B. fights his way through three strange worlds in total, encountering several particularly enormous or swift enemies (bosses) along the way, and participating in several cart-race levels. There were several different types of setting for each level, including domed space colony cities, large alien hive-type areas, strange biomechanical facilities, ancient (and apparently haunted) temples and cavernous magma chambers. Some of these settings only appeared on certain worlds.

B.O.B (song)

"B.O.B" ("Bombs Over Baghdad") is a song by American rap duo OutKast from their fourth studio album Stankonia (2000). It was released as the album's lead single in September 19, 2000 through LaFace Records and Arista. Produced by Earthtone III, the song features a high-speed tempo beat consisting of drum'n'bass rhythms, guitars, organs, and gospel vocals. Although not a huge commercial success, the song has been cited as one of the greatest songs of all time by publications such as Pitchfork Media, Rolling Stone, Blender and Complex.

Composition

Produced by OutKast and Mr. DJ under the name Earthtone III, "B.O.B" features "jittery drum'n'bass rhythms" and has been classified as a "stylistic tour de force" combining "Hendrix-ian" guitars, organs, and gospel vocals. On the track, André 3000 and Big Boi employ a "frantic" flow in order to keep pace with the song's high-speed tempo, which runs at 155 beats per minute.

Big Boi said that they wanted to differ from current music: "Everybody's been doing music like they all have the same formula—e=mc2. They get a beat, an MC, somebody to sing the hook, and go platinum. Where's music going to go when everybody's trapped in this same repetitious flow?"

The Love & War MasterPeace

The Love & War MasterPeace is the third studio album by American recording artist Raheem DeVaughn, released on March 2, 2010 through Jive Records. It was also released as a deluxe edition with an additional disc of bonus material. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2008 to 2009 and production was handled primarily by Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez.

The album debuted at number nine on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 45,000 copies in its first week. Upon its release, The Love & War MasterPeace was well received by music critics.

Production for the album was handled primarily by Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, with contributions from Ne-Yo, Stereotypes, and Lil' Ronnie, among others. In a press release for the album, DeVaughn explained its title, stating "I named the album The Love & War MasterPeace because I feel that where I am as a person and where we are as a people, we are all trying to master that internal peace and happiness in a very strange time." In an interview for Vibe, he described the album as "half socially conscious, half love". In an interview with Pete Lewis of Blues & Soul, DeVaughn discussed his intentions for the album, stating "The plan from the gate was to have the two vibes - social conscience and love/romance. And, with that being definitely something that Marvin Gaye was known for I think that's why I get those comparisons with him."
