Amanda Perez was raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and grew up in the Waynedale community of Fort Wayne, where she attended North Side High School. In 2001, she and carmen ange l released her first single "Never", which became Perez's first charting single of her career, peaking at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100 sales chart. In April 2002, she released her first album, Where You At?, headed by Los Angeles radio DJ and A&R music producer Mighty Mike Quinn (Mike Q.) under the label Powerhowse Records Beverly Hills, California. Co-production of LP included Los Angeles based producer Tony P. (Palacios). Perez scored her biggest hit in 2003 with the single "Angel" (released February 11, 2003) which peaked at #20 on the Hot 100 sales chart and #3 at radio. This single helped the album (also called Angel) to become a hit.

Quinn also directed and produced four music videos for Perez, which made MTV and charted Perez on TRL (Total Request Live) at #7 on the MTV show. The album was a hit in the United States, and made her a celebrity in her hometown, inking a deal with Universal Records. It also summoned the attention of other major record companies.

Amanda is said to be currently working on a new album to be released in late 2012. The working project album is to be called "Love Don't Make Sense." Perez, has had little success since departing form the original Powerhowse producers in 2005. Matt Serletic, former president and chairman of Virgin Records who signed Quinn's Powerhowse Silverstone labels said "she needs her original team." She became the Latin girl of rap and R&B breaking into a market that Latin artists prior to her had not tapped. "I never seen a more requested artist" said former KWIN-FM Radio programming manager John Christian who broke the artist in Stockton, California.

Amanda Perez (footballer)

Amanda Perez Murillo (born July 31, 1994) is a Mexican-American soccer player from Hayward, California. She is a midfielder for the Mexico women's national football team and currently plays for the Washington Huskies. She is the younger sister of Veronica Perez, a forward on the Mexico women's national football team and a University of Washington alumna.

Playing career

University of Washington

Perez currently plays for the University of Washington Huskies. Having graduated from San Mateo High School in 2011, Perez delayed her college enrollment to recover from a knee injury and participate in the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with Mexico.

International

Perez played for Mexico at both U17 and U20 levels. She played in 2010 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

She received her senior level call-up from Mexico for the 2013 Algarve Cup, joining older sister and senior veteran Veronica Perez. She appeared as a late substitute in two out of Mexico's four total matches in Portugal, including the knockout stage match.
