"Hit and Run Lover" is the first song on Fragile, the seventh studio album from the dance music band Dead or Alive. Like the 1990 album Fan the Flame (Part 1), it was released only in Japan, where the band is very popular. The song was a hit record for the group, peaking at #2 on the Japanese charts.
A remix of the song was included on Unbreakable: The Fragile Remixes (2001). The new version was performed live at the Tokyo BigSite during an Avex rave concert in 2001, with two new members, Cliff Slapher and Mickey Dee, and without Jason Alburey.
Hit-and-run is the act of causing (or contributing to) a traffic crash (such as colliding with a person or a fixture), and failing to stop and identify oneself afterwards. It is considered a crime in most jurisdictions.
In many jurisdictions there may be an additional obligation to exchange information about one's financial responsibility (including any applicable insurance) or to summon emergency services if they are needed. There may also be requirement to leave a note containing pertinent information if the property owner is not present.
Hit-and-run laws arose from the difficulties that early traffic collision victims faced in identifying perpetrators so that they could be brought to justice. Apart from the obvious ability of an automobile to flee the scene quickly (if still driveable), drivers often wore driving goggles, vehicles at the time did not have license plates, and roads were unpaved and thus quite dusty.
Hit-and-run has severe legal consequences, including the suspension or cancellation of one's driver's license (lifetime revocation of a driver's license is possible in certain jurisdictions). It is frequently considered a criminal offense which can be punished by imprisonment. Insurance companies often void the policies of drivers involved in this offense.
A hit and run is a high risk, high reward offensive strategy used in baseball. It uses a stolen base attempt to try to place the defending infielders out of position for an attempted base hit.
The hit and run was introduced to baseball by Ned Hanlon, who was often referred to as "The Father of Modern Baseball", at the beginning of the 1894 season of the National League, as part of what came to be called "inside baseball". Hanlon was manager of the Baltimore Orioles at the time. His team developed the hit and run along with other tactics during spring training at Macon, Georgia. After its implementation in the season's series opener against the New York Giants, the opposing manager objected to its use; however, it was deemed acceptable.
The hit and run relies on the positioning of the defensive players in the infield. The first and third basemen normally stand close to the lines, generally near their bases but slightly closer to home plate. The second baseman and shortstop stand on either side of second base, covering the areas between first and second, and second and third, respectively. Second base itself is not directly covered, as the pitcher can field batted balls in this direction.
Hit and Run is a bluegrass band originally from Boulder, Colorado, now based in Tennessee.
Hit & Run Bluegrass formed in Colorado in late 2001 with the mutual desire to play authentic-yet-modern bluegrass. They have released two compact discs to date. The band has toured extensively throughout the United States, playing such prestigious festivals as Telluride Bluegrass Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Rockygrass Bluegrass Festival, and Bean Blossom.
They have shared billing with artists such as Jerry Douglas, Hot Rize, Alison Krauss, and David Grisman. In 2005 they took first place in the SPBGMA International Band Championship in Nashville. Guitarist Rebecca Frazier became the first woman to appear on the cover of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine when the September 2006 issue of that magazine was released.
The group now tours as Rebecca Frazier and Hit & Run Bluegrass. The lineup consists of Rebecca Frazier (née Hoggan) on guitar, John Frazier on mandolin and occasionally fiddle, Kyle Tuttle on banjo, Royal Masat on bass, and Shad Cobb on fiddle.
I was waitin' for my life to change
He was goin' much too fast
When he suddenly touched me
It felt so right
But he sped off away
In the middle of the night
He's a hit 'n' run lover
He'll get you when you're dow-own
That hit 'n' run lover
Hell love you good then hell get out of town
That hit 'n' run
That hit 'n' run
The smell of tears then angry words
Then the sounds of breakin hearts
Passersby shake their heads and sigh
Its just a bad intersection, I replied
He's a hit 'n' run lover
He'll get you when you're dow-own
That hit 'n' run lover
Hell love you good then hell get out of town
He's a hit 'n' run lover (lover, lover) lover
Ow! Hit 'n' run lover
It might seem heartless
It might seem cruel
But you can't arrest him
When you've been the fool, ah
Hooh-hooh-hooh, hooh-ooh, hooh-hooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Hit 'n' run, hit 'n' run
Hit 'n' run lover, yeah, mmm
Hit 'n' run, hit 'n' run
Hit 'n' run lover, yeah-yeah-eah
Hit 'n' run lover, now-ow, mm-mm-mm
Hit 'n' run lover, Ow! lover
