In vertebrate anatomy, hip (or "coxa" in medical terminology) refers to either an anatomical region or a joint.
The hip region is located lateral and anterior to the gluteal region (i.e., the buttock), inferior to the iliac crest, and overlying the greater trochanter of the femur, or "thigh bone". In adults, three of the bones of the pelvis have fused into the hip bone or acetabulum which forms part of the hip region.
The hip joint, scientifically referred to as the acetabulofemoral joint (art. coxae), is the joint between the femur and acetabulum of the pelvis and its primary function is to support the weight of the body in both static (e.g. standing) and dynamic (e.g. walking or running) postures. The hip joints are the most important part in retaining balance. The pelvic inclination angle, which is the single most important element of human body posture, is mostly adjusted at the hips.
Pain of the hip may be the result of numerous causes including nervous, osteoarthritic, infectious, trauma-related, and genetic ones.
In geometry, the hexagonal prism is a prism with hexagonal base. This polyhedron has 8 faces, 18 edges, and 12 vertices.
Since it has eight faces, it is an octahedron. However, the term octahedron is primarily used to refer to the regular octahedron, which has eight triangular faces. Because of the ambiguity of the term octahedron and the dissimilarity of the various eight-sided figures, the term is rarely used without clarification.
Before sharpening, many pencils take the shape of a long hexagonal prism.
If faces are all regular, the hexagonal prism is a semiregular polyhedron, more generally, a uniform polyhedron, and the fourth in an infinite set of prisms formed by square sides and two regular polygon caps. It can be seen as a truncated hexagonal hosohedron, represented by Schläfli symbol t{2,6}. Alternately it can be seen as the Cartesian product of a regular hexagon and a line segment, and represented by the product {6}×{}. The dual of a hexagonal prism is a hexagonal bipyramid.
Hip is a slang term sometimes defined as fashionably current, and in the know. It has also been defined as "an attitude, a stance" in opposition to the "unfree world", or to what is square, or prude.
Hip, like cool, does not refer to one specific quality. What is considered hip is continuously changing.
The term hip is recorded in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) in the early 1900s. In the 1930s and 1940s, it had become a common slang term, particularly in the African-American dominated jazz scene.
Research and speculation by both amateur and professional etymologists suggest that "hip" is derived from an earlier form hep but that is disputed. Many etymologists believe that the terms hip, hep and hepcat derive from the west African Wolof language word hepicat, which means "one who has his eyes open". Some etymologists reject this, however, tracing the origin of this putative etymology to David Dalby, a scholar of African languages who tentatively suggested the idea in the 1960s, and some have even adopted the denigration "to cry Wolof" as a general dismissal or belittlement of etymologies they believe to be based on "superficial similarities" rather than documented attribution.
To be announced (TBA), to be confirmed (TBC), and to be determined (or to be decided, TBD) are placeholder terms used very broadly in event planning to indicate that although something is scheduled or expected to happen, a particular aspect of that remains to be arranged or confirmed.
These phrases are similar, but may be used for different degrees of indeterminacy:
Other similar phrases sometimes used to convey the same meaning, and using the same abbreviations, include "to be ascertained", "to be arranged", "to be advised", "to be adjudicated", "to be done", "to be decided", and "to be declared".
Use of the abbreviation "TBA" is formally reported in a reference work at least as early as 1955, and "TBD" is similarly reported as early as 1967.
Trockenbeerenauslese (literal meaning: "dried berries selection") is a German language wine term for a medium to full body dessert wine.
Trockenbeerenauslese is the highest in sugar content in the Prädikatswein category of the Austrian and German wine classifications.Trockenbeerenauslese wines, often called "TBA" for short, are made from individually selected grapes affected by noble rot, i.e. "botrytized" grapes.
This means that the grapes have been individually picked and are shrivelled with noble rot, often to the point of appearing like a raisin. They are therefore very sweet and have an intensely rich flavor, frequently with a lot of caramel and honey bouquet, stone fruit notes such as apricot, and distinctive aroma of the noble rot. The finest examples are made from the Riesling grape, as this retains plenty of acidity even at the extreme ripeness. Other grape varieties are also used, such as Scheurebe, Ortega, Welschriesling, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer and many are more prone to noble rot than Riesling since they ripen earlier.
When lady luck has got me down with her high-speed attitude
I’m-a feeling kinda high I’m-a feeling kinda low
I feel so, I dunno like fast food
Someone spiked my latte and I’m just not in the mood
Need a little bit of this, need a little bit of that
Some chit chat and that’s why I’m the dude
I got a feeling
Something’s wrong
I dial your number
And then it’s gone
I got a feeling
Something’s whack
Before I count to three
You’re here with me before the blues attack
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
Without you girl the future’s bleak
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
I want you by my side
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
You got a day, it’s like the week
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
I’m feeling good inside
When lady luck is dressed in black
And I’m dancing in my shoes
Tryna pull me to the left tryna pull me to the right
I just might, sit tight stay in my groove
I’m tired of people on my back
Making offers I can’t refuse
I know that they believe I’m on my knees
But I know I won’t ever leave yeah
I got a feeling
Something’s wrong
I dial your number
And then it’s gone
I got a feeling
Something’s whack
Before I count to three
You’re here with me before the blues attack
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
Without you girl the future’s bleak
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
I want you by my side
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
You got a day, it’s like the week
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
I’m feeling good inside
Twist it, nation
Meet the generation
We don’t need no education
The rhythm that you’re giving me is changing my life
And baby if you said “jump” I’d say “how high”
No dealing, stealing
Only free-wheeling
You’re giving a religion for me to believe in
So rock me, shock me any way you know
But I guess I kinda like the status quo
I got a feeling
Something’s wrong
I dial your number
And then it’s gone
I got a feeling
Something’s whack
Before I count to three
You’re here with me before the blues attack
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
Without you girl the future’s bleak
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
I want you by my side
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
You got a day, it’s like the week
Hip, hip to hip, cheek, cheek to cheek
