Hilary Curtis

Hilary Curtis is a fictional character from the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, portrayed by Mishael Morgan.

Created by head writers, Josh Griffith and Shelly Altman, and introduced by executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, in 2013, Hilary comes to town as the seemingly innocent assistant of Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard). It is eventually revealed that Hilary is working a vendetta against Cane's father-in-law, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), whom she blames for her mother's death. Hilary and her accomplice Mason Wilder (Lamon Archey) take pleasure in tormenting Neil and his family, from trying to get Neil to fall off the wagon and trying to drug Cane into her bed. Hilary and Mason are exposed before she goes after Neil's son, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). It is Neil's forgiveness, and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)'s compassion, that puts Hilary on the path to redemption. Though it takes some time, Devon eventually comes around and the two develop feelings for one another. Despite their feelings, Hilary gravitates toward Neil and they start an affair much to the dismay of Neil's daughter and Cane's wife, Lily (Christel Khalil) who refuses to accept the reformed Hilary.

Curtis

Curtis or Curtiss is a common English given name and surname of Anglo-Norman origin derived from the Old French curteis (Modern French courtois, surname Courtois) which means "polite, courteous, or well-bred". It is a compound of curt- ″court″ and -eis ″-ish″. The spelling u to render [u] in Old French was mainly Anglo-Norman and Norman, when the spelling o [u] was the usual Parisian French one, Modern French ou [u]. -eis is the Old French suffix for -ois, Western French (including Anglo-Norman) keeps -eis, simplified -is in English. The word court shares the same etymology but retains a Modern French spelling, after the orthography had changed.

It was brought to England (and subsequently, the rest of the Isles) via the Norman Conquest.

Many Hungarian immigrants in English speaking countries with the last name Kertész have adopted the name Curtis, since it is pronounced similarly and helped them integrate into their new community.

Curtis is a tiny lunar crater that lies in the western Mare Crisium, to the east of the crater Picard. It is a circular, cup-shaped formation that is otherwise undistinguished.

In the past it was designated Picard Z, before it was assigned an eponym by the IAU.

Curtis Donovan

Curtis Donovan is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 science fiction comedy-drama Misfits, portrayed by Nathan Stewart-Jarrett. Curtis appears from the series inception and was the only original character to appear in all of the first four series. Curtis is sentenced to community service after being caught in possession of cocaine and later gains the power of time manipulation when involved in a freak storm. He has also been involved in relationships with Alisha Daniels (Antonia Thomas) and later with Nikki (Ruth Negga). Curtis later gains the power to swap biological sex, followed by the ability to resurrect people from the dead. While in female form, Curtis is portrayed by Kehinde Fadipe. Stewart-Jarrett left the show in the fourth episode of the fourth series when the character was killed off.

Casting and character creation

Casting for the part was announced on 17 August 2009 by Digital Spy. Stewart-Jarett went through an audition process for the part in which he commented on saying "I always thought your audition for drama school was meant to be the hardest you would ever do, but Misfits trumped that. I had to get through four auditions and five meetings before I got the part. The fourth audition was the worst. They placed around 20 of us in a house in Fitzrovia and we all had to work in groups so they could see the dynamics between us. We started in the morning and as the day wore on people were plucked out one by one and sent home. It was quite brutal". Fellow cast member Iwan Rheon revealed that Overman who created the character discussed how to write their parts with the cast and later began writing for them as actors. Stewart-Jarett added that Overman "gave us a licence to do that and it was actually quite nice in a way".

Hilary Blake, known professionally as Hilary, was a singer/songwriter/performer from Los Angeles. She was born in 1950 and died in July 2007.

Career

Blake sang with madrigal groups at Shakespeare festivals in England and studied acting with Agnes Moorehead at age 11.

In 1978 she matched free verse poetry with synthesizers and drum machines to produce her signature sound.

In 1982 she met up with producer Steve Hague and pressed 1000 copies of 12" vinyl "Kinetic b/w "I Live" for Sirus Records.Kinetic was voted "Screamer of Week" by listeners of Long Island radio station WLIR on January 2, 1983. and received modest airplay on her hometown station KROQ-FM. Kinectic was also played in New York dance clubs. I Live was played on college radio stations.

Later in the year Blake released a 4 song EP entitled Kinetic for Backstreet Records which was also produced by Hague. The song Kinetic was about her hopes that awareness of changing cellular structure would help the human species to survive. Drop Your Pants was Blake's attempt to show how "ridiculous" the fear of sex in United States was. On August 4 it became her second song to be named "Screamer of the Week" by WLIR listeners. This song was also mentioned in an edition of The Guide to Getting it On by Paul Joannides.
