    Tennis scoring system

A tennis tournament is organized into matches between players (for singles tournaments) or teams of two players (for doubles tournaments). The matches of a tournament are grouped into rounds. In round 1, all players (or teams) are paired and play against each other in matches. The losers are said to leave, or be out. They no longer compete in the tournament (this is single elimination). The winners are again paired to play in the matches of the next round. The tournament continues until the quarterfinal round (having eight players or teams playing in pairs), then the semifinal round (having four players or teams playing in pairs), and finally the final round (having only two players or teams) are played. The winner of the final round is declared the winner of the entire tournament.

A tennis match is composed of points, games, and sets. A match is won when a player or a doubles team wins the majority of prescribed sets. Traditionally, matches are either a best of three sets or best of five sets format. The best of five set format is typically only played in the Men's singles or doubles matches at Majors and Davis Cup matches.

  • Affine transformation

In geometry, an affine transformation, affine map or an affinity (from the Latin, affinis, "connected with") is a function between affine spaces which preserves points, straight lines and planes. Also, sets of parallel lines remain parallel after an affine transformation. An affine transformation does not necessarily preserve angles between lines or distances between points, though it does preserve ratios of distances between points lying on a straight line.

Examples of affine transformations include translation, scaling, homothety, similarity transformation, reflection, rotation, shear mapping, and compositions of them in any combination and sequence.

If X and Y are affine spaces, then every affine transformation f : X \to Y is of the form x \mapsto Mx + b, where M is a linear transformation on X and b is a vector in Y. Unlike a purely linear transformation, an affine map need not preserve the zero point in a linear space. Thus, every linear transformation is affine, but not every affine transformation is linear.

    Affinity (canon law)

In canon law, affinity is an impediment to marriage of a couple due to the relationship which either party has as a result of a kinship relationship created by another marriage or as a result of out of marriage intercourse. The relationships that give rise to the impediment have varied over time, and there are varied views between various Christian denominations as to which relationships result in an impediment to marriage. Marriages and sexual relations between people in an affinity relationship are regarded as incestuous.

Today, the relevant principle within the Catholic Church is that "affinity does not beget affinity"—i.e., there is no affinity between one spouse's relatives and the other spouse's relatives. Canon 109 of the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church provides that affinity is an impediment to the marriage of a couple, and is a relationship which "arises from a valid marriage, even if not consummated, and exists between a man and the blood relatives of the woman and between the woman and the blood relatives of the man." Also, affinity "is reckoned in such a way that the blood relations of the man are related by affinity to the woman in the same line and the same degree, and vice versa."

    HIDE YOUR LOVE

    by: The Rolling Stones

    (M. Jagger/K. Richards)
Sometimes I'm up, sometimes I'm down
Sometimes I'm fallin' on the ground
How do you hide, how do you hide your love?
Now look here, baby, it sure looks sweet
In the sleep time, out in the street
Why do you hide, why do you hide your love?
Why do you hide, baby, why do you hide your love?
Oh, been a sick man, I wanna cry
Lord, I'm a drunk man, but now I'm dry
Why do you hide, why do you hide your love?
Now look here, baby, you sure look cheap
I make money seven days a week
Why do you hide, why do you hide your love?
Why do you hide, baby, hide from the man that you love?
Come on, come on, come on
Come on, come on, come on
Oh, babe, I'm reachin', reachin' high
Oh, yeah, I'm fallin' out of the sky
Why do you hide, hide from the man that you love?
Why do you hide, baby, why do you hide your love?
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah, oh, yeah
Why do you hide, why do you hide your love?
Why do you hide it, baby, hide from the man that you love
That you love? Well, well, well, well
