Kashō

Kashō (嘉祥), also known as Kajō, was a Japanese era name (年号, nengō,, lit. "year name") after Jōwa and before Ninju. This period spanned the years from June 848 through April 851. The reigning emperors were Ninmyō-tennō (仁明天皇) and Montoku-tennō (文徳天皇).

Change of era

  • February 9, 848 Kashō gannen (嘉祥元年): The new era name Kashō (meaning "good augury") was created because a white tortoise was discovered in Bungo province, and it was duly presented to the emperor. The previous era ended and the new one commenced in Jōwa 15, on the 13th day of the 6th month of 848.
  • Events of the Kashō era

  • February 18, 848 (Kashō 1, 10th day of the 1st month): The dainagon Fujiwara Yoshifusa (904-872) was named udaijin. He was the son of the former sadaijin Fujiwara Fuyutsugu (775-826). Yoshifusa's daughter, Fujiwara no Akira-keiko, became Emperor Montoku's wife and the mother of Emperor Seiwa.
  • 848 (Kashō 1, 6th month): A white tortoise was discovered in Bungo province. As this was an extraordinary thing, all the court officials made their appearances before the emperor with comments about the good augury this tortoise represented.
  • Kash (film)

Kash (meaning:Puff) is a 2014 indie feature film directed by Souman Bose with Subholina Sen and Souman Bose playing the lead roles.

    Plot

Kashi Mehrothra, a youth in his early twenties is heavily influenced by Ram Sen, A "proletariat" who used to make a living by selling biris (small Indian cigarettes) and within a span of few years evolved into a huge capitalist. Ram Sen preached: "বিড়ি উন্নতির শিরি !" (meaning: "Indian cigar is the staircase to success!") Kashi Mehrothra, was heavily influenced by his philosophy as an adolescent. He thought, if a man devoid of any formal education could do so much,he could do all this and more with a more sophisticated intoxicant-per say, a cigarette. Hence, his fantasies of being the "Cigarette King" of India started taking over. He got so much into cigarettes, his friends started calling him Kash, which means a puff or a drag of smoke. Motherless Kash, despite being born into an affluent business family relates more to the Proletarian philosophies. He goes on a journey trying to make his bizarre ambition of opening a cigarette factory. Meanwhile, other forces are at work. And Kashi Mehrothra's melancholic life transforms into a topsy turvy journey, where his life is threatened by creatures from the super natural realm, viz. Jack Ketch. Kash is a story of that journey. A political satire. A horror tale. And all the drama behind a little puff of smoke.

    Roller

The rollers are an Old World family, Coraciidae, of near passerine birds. The group gets its name from the aerial acrobatics some of these birds perform during courtship or territorial flights. Rollers resemble crows in size and build, and share the colourful appearance of kingfishers and bee-eaters, blues and pinkish or cinnamon browns predominating. The two inner front toes are connected, but not the outer one.

They are mainly insect eaters, with Eurystomus species taking their prey on the wing, and those of the genus Coracias diving from a perch to catch food items from on the ground, like giant shrikes.

Although living rollers are birds of warm climates in the Old World, fossil records show that rollers were present in North America during the Eocene. They are monogamous and nest in an unlined hole in a tree or in masonry, and lay 2–4 eggs in the tropics, 3–6 at higher latitudes. The eggs, which are white, hatch after 17–20 days, and the young remain in the nest for approximately another 30 days.

    Roller (BEAM)

In BEAM robotics, a Roller is a robot that has a mode of locomotion by rolling all or part of the robot.

    Genera

  • Symets : Driven mode of locomotion via a single motor. The robot is powered by a solarengine circuit that drives it by charging either three or four capacitors up, then releasing the stored energy in a single 'burst' of power for a period of time, before stopping again to recharge, starting the cycle again. The capacitors are arranged in either a triangular or square pattern along the cylindrical part of the motor. The capacitors are arranged so that they act as rests on which the motor shaft (acting as the 'wheel' for this robot) is balanced out on two other skids. The symmetrical design allows the robot to change direction when it hits an obstacle by tipping onto another set of two side capacitors, which then cause it to move into another direction.
  • Solarrollers : Driven mode of locomotion by a single motor; Solar-powered BEAMbots that attempt to complete a fairly short, straight and level course in the shortest amount of time. They are driven by a 'solar engine' circuit; the circuit is designed so that it charges up energy gained from the solar panels and then releases it in one continuous burst. The two main types of solar engines are the FLED engine, which uses a flashing LED to regulate the power, and a 1381 engine, which uses a 1381 voltage regulator to decide when to release the energy.
