List of Société de transport de Montréal bus routes

Montreal bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM; Montreal Transit Corporation (MTC)) consist of 220 daytime and 23 night service routes and provide a vast number of routes for the city of Montreal proper. STM bus routes serve an average of 1,403,700 daily passengers on an average weekday in 2011.

A route is referred to by its route number and name (for example, 67 Saint-Michel). The name of the route is usually named after the road or community that it primarily serves; Express routes are denoted by a 4 before the original number (for example, 467 Express Saint-Michel).

Henri Bourassa

Joseph-Napoléon-Henri Bourassa (French pronunciation: ​[ɑ̃ʁi buʁasa]; September 1, 1868 – August 31, 1952) was a French Canadian political leader and publisher. In 1899, Bourassa was outspoken against the British government's request for Canada to send a militia to fight for Britain in the Second Boer War. Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier's compromise was to send a volunteer force, but the seeds were sown for future conscription protests during the World Wars of the next half-century. Bourassa challenged, unsuccessfully, the proposal to build warships to help protect the empire. He led the opposition to mandatory conscription during World War I, arguing that Canada's interests were not at stake. He opposed Catholic bishops who defended military support of Britain and its allies. Bourassa was an ideological father of French-Canadian nationalism.

Biography

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Napoléon Bourassa and Azélie Papineau (Bourassa), Henri Bourassa was a grandson of the pro-democracy reformist politician Louis-Joseph Papineau. He was educated at École Polytechnique de Montréal and at Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1890, he became mayor of the town of Montebello, Quebec, at the age of 22.

Henri-Bourassa (Montreal Metro)

Henri-Bourassa is a station on the Orange Line of the Montreal Metro rapid transit system, operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) . It is located in the Ahuntsic district in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The station opened October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro and the eastern terminal of the Orange Line until 2007, when the terminal was moved to Montmorency in the Laval-des-Rapides district of Laval.

Overview

The original part of the station, designed by Janusz Warunkiewicz, is a normal side platform station, connected by a transept and a long tunnel to a mezzanine some distance away. This in turn gives access to the station's entrance on 575 Henri Bourassa Boulevard, integrated into a government building, the STM's Terminus Henri-Bourassa Sud and the STL's Terminus Henri-Bourassa Nord.

A second access, closer to the station's platforms on Berri Street, was added later. It was designed by André Léonard and Claude Leclerc.
