Hello Kitty Online

Hello Kitty Online (HKO) is a free-to-playmassively multiplayer online role playing game developed by Sanrio Digital and Typhoon Games. The game is tied to the SanrioTown website, where players are required to register a free account.

Premise

The game tells the story of a hero (the player) helping Hello Kitty and her friends wake up from eternal slumber and defeat a "mysterious and malevolent power".

History

SanrioDigital hosted three phases of testing.

Closed Beta

The closed beta application was announced on February 13, 2008 running through February 21, 2008. More than 50,000 applications were submitted.

Due to the limited number of testing accounts available, applicants were instructed to create a video explaining why the applicant should be chosen to participate in the closed beta test. This submission process ran until March 10, 2008 with selected applications being announced on March 18, 2008.

The Closed Beta phase began on April 23, 2008, and ran through June 1, 2008.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty (Japanese: ハロー・キティ, Hepburn: Harō Kiti), (full name: Kitty White (キティ・ホワイト, Kiti Howaito)) is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio, created by Yuko Shimizu and currently designed by Yuko Yamaguchi. She is depicted as an anthropomorphic white Japanese Bobtail cat with a red bow.

Shortly after her creation in 1974, Hello Kitty greeted the world with a "Hello!" on her very first product. The Hello Kitty vinyl coin purse was introduced by Sanrio in March 1975. The character was then brought to the United States in 1976. The character is a staple of the kawaii segment of Japanese popular culture. By 2010, Sanrio had groomed Hello Kitty into a global marketing phenomenon worth $5 billion a year. By 2014, when Hello Kitty was 40 years old, she was worth about $7 billion a year, all without advertising except on Sanrio's, related show producers', and ticket sales' webpages and at show venues and nearby locations.

Originally aimed at pre-adolescent females, Hello Kitty's market has broadened to include adult consumers. She can be found on a variety of products ranging from school supplies to fashion accessories and high-end consumer products. Including various diamond necklaces. Several Hello Kitty TV series, targeted towards young children, have been produced. Hello Kitty is also the main character at the two Japanese Sanrio theme parks, Harmonyland and the indoor Sanrio Puroland.

The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends

The Adventures of Hello Kitty and Friends (Traditional Chinese: Hello Kitty 愛漫遊) is a 3D CGI animated series featuring Hello Kitty and other characters from the Japanese company Sanrio. It was produced from 2006 onwards by Sanrio Digital and Dream Cortex distributed by Sanrio Digital. It consists of 52 episodes and deals with themes of happiness, family and friendship.

The series focuses on core values established more than 30 years ago by Sanrio such as: happiness, family values, friendship, and educational values.

There are several different Hello Kitty (HelloKitty ハローキティ, Harōkiti) TV series, featuring the character Hello Kitty, from the Japanese company Sanrio.

Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater (1987)

Hello Kitty's Furry Tale Theater is an Japanese-American co-produced animated series. The series involved Hello Kitty and her friends doing their own version of popular fairy tales and stories. Each of the 13 half-hour episodes consisted of two 11-minute cartoons, for a total of 26 shows; each show was a spoof of a well-known fairy tale or movie.

Hello Kitty and Friends (1991-1995)

Hello Kitty and Friends is an OVA which was exclusively on home video in Japan and the United States in 1993. It also aired in Toon Disney. In the video series, Kitty is a little girl kitten living with her mother, father, and twin sister Mimmy, who is identical to Kitty but has different coloured clothes and wears a yellow bow under the opposite ear. Only 13 episodes were imported to the US.
