According to the Bible, Solomon's Temple, also known as the First Temple, was the Holy Temple (Hebrew: בֵּית־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ: Bet HaMikdash) in ancient Jerusalem, on the Temple Mount (also known as Mount Zion), before its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar II after the Siege of Jerusalem of 587 BC.
The Hebrew Bible states that the temple was constructed under Solomon, King of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah and that during the kingdom of Judah, the temple was dedicated to Yahweh, and is said to have housed the Ark of the Covenant. Josephus claims that "the temple was burnt four hundred and seventy years, six months, and ten days after it was built," (Jew. Ant. 10.8.5), though Rabbinic sources state that the First Temple stood for 410 years and, based on the 2nd-century work Seder Olam Rabbah, place construction in 832 BCE and destruction in 422 BCE, 165 years later than secular estimates.
Because of the religious sensitivities involved, and the politically volatile situation in Jerusalem, only limited archaeological surveys of the Temple Mount have been conducted. No archaeological excavations have been allowed on the Temple Mount during modern times. Therefore there is no archaeological evidence for the existence of Solomon's Temple. An Ivory pomegranate which mentions priests in the house of YHWH, and an inscription recording the Temple's restoration under Jehoash have both appeared on the antiquities market, but their authenticity has been challenged and they are the subject of controversy.
The way that you remember there was nothing to say
So you threw your arms around me, threw your arms around me
Girl you shouldn't think that I've got nowhere to go
But I'll tell you how I felt if you really want to know
How warm in the morning when you asked me to stay
And how cool in the evening when you sent me away
We were right in the middle I was ready to say
How cool in the evening when you sent me away
Baby when you touch me with that look in your eye
I can feel the air around me, feel the air around me
Close enough to whisper, I got **
I'll wrap the words around you if that can make you see
How warm in the morning when you asked me to stay
And how cool in the evening when you sent me away
We were right in the middle I was ready to say
How cool in the evening when you sent me away
Baby when you touch me with that look in your eye
How warm in the morning when you asked me to stay
And how cool in the evening when you sent me away
We were right in the middle I was ready to say
How cool in the evening when you sent me away
How warm in the morning when you asked me to stay
And how cool in the evening when you sent me away
We were right in the middle I was ready to say
