Ruo Shui

Ruo Shui (Chinese: 弱水, literally: "weak river", also Etsin Gol or Ruo He or Ejin River) is a major river system of northern China. It flows approximately 630 kilometres (390 mi) from its headwaters on the northern Gansu side of the Qilian Mountains north-northeast into the endorheic Ejin Basin in the Gobi Desert. The river forms one of the largest inland deltas or alluvial fans in the world. Its drainage basin covers about 78,600 square kilometres (30,300 sq mi) in parts of the Chinese provinces of Gansu and Inner Mongolia.

Geography

The river rises as the Heishui (黑水, black river) on the north slopes of the Qilian Mountains roughly 75 kilometres (47 mi) southeast of Minle. It flows north then northwest past Zhangye, picking up several tributaries from the south. For the first 150 kilometres (93 mi) its water is used to irrigate fields along its valley. It then turns north-northeast, flowing out into the desert, and becoming a losing stream as its water sinks into the surrounding earth. This quality is what gives the river its name, as it greatly lessens the flow and even causes it to dry up in some years. From the turn it runs about 175 kilometres (109 mi) in that direction onto a vast alluvial plain formed by the river's sediment deposits. This part of the river is also known as the Etsin Gol or Etsin River. At Ximiao, the river splits into two ephemeral distributaries called the Dong He (東河, eastern river) and the Xi He (西河, western river), each about 220 kilometres (140 mi) long, draining into the Juyan Lake Basin. The Dong empties into a lake called Sogo Nur, while the Xi river empties into a seasonal basin called the Gaxun Nur.

River is a six-part British television drama series, created and written by Abi Morgan and starring Stellan Skarsgård and Nicola Walker. It premiered on BBC One on 13 October 2015, and internationally on Netflix on 18 November 2015.

Production

The series was commissioned by Charlotte Moore and Ben Stephenson. The executive producers are Jane Featherstone, Manda Levin, Abi Morgan and Lucy Richer. Filming began in London in October 2014. The series was made by Kudos and will be distributed globally by Shine International. Vicki Power of The Daily Express reported Skarsgård saying of his role as DI River, "There’s not much research you can do because his condition doesn’t really exist as we know it. […] It’s a combination of problems, because he’s not like people who hear voices – they’re usually schizophrenic and lack empathy and he does not. But it doesn’t make it less truthful. What attracted me to the script is that it didn’t look like any other script I’ve ever read." Power added, "The series is the brainchild of Emmy-winner Abi Morgan, who wrote The Hour and The Iron Lady. Abi freely admits she nicked the idea from the late Anthony Minghella, who directed the 1990 fantasy film Truly, Madly, Deeply, in which a grieving woman’s (Juliet Stevenson) dead boyfriend appears to come back to life".

Hei (album)

Hei is the debut album of the Norwegian child duo Marcus & Martinus, winners of the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2012. The album released on Sony Music Entertainment on 23 February 2015 and was immensely successful peaking at number 2 on the Norwegian VG-lista official albums chart.

A special follow-up album was released months later on 6 November 2015 also on Sony and included additional tracks. The special album was titled Hei – Fan-Spesial.

East Asian gothic typeface

Gothic typefaces (simplified Chinese: 黑体; traditional Chinese: 黑體; pinyin: hēitǐ; Japanese: ゴシック体 goshikku-tai; Korean: 돋움 dotum, 고딕체 godik-che) are a type style characterised by strokes of even thickness, reduced curves, and lack of decorations, akin to sans serif styles in Western typography. It is the second most commonly used style in East Asian typography, after Ming.

Characteristics

Similar to Ming and Song typefaces, sans-serif typefaces were designed for printing, but they were also designed for legibility. They are commonly used in headlines, signs, and video applications.

Josef Heiß

Joseph "Peppi" Heiß (born 13 June 1963 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany) is a retired German ice hockey goaltender.

He started his career with SC Riessersee in 1980. He played for Riessersee, Düsseldorfer EG and Kölner Haie.

After playing about 1200 games in the German League and 140 games for the German national men's hockey team he retired in 2001 because of a knee injury.

His daughter Stella Heiß is a successful curler who represented Germany at the 2010 Winter Olympics. At seventeen years, she was the youngest curler at the Games.
