Popstars (French TV series)

Popstars is a French musical reality TV series based on the international series of the same name. The French television series was broadcast on M6 for 4 seasons and was a pioneer in musical competitions in France. It is currently broadcast on D8.

The first season of Fremch Popstars was launched on 20 September 2001 and continued until 20 December 2001 won by L5, followed by a second season 2002 won by Whatfor, a third season in 2004 (known as Popstars - le duel) won by Linkup, and a fourth season after 4 years of interruption, held in 2007 and won by Sheryfa Luna.

The first series was to launch pop groups from casting to the launch of a debut album, whereas series 4 was for launching of a solo artist. Genres of music presented ranged form pop to rock, R&B, rap and hip hop. Contrary to other competitions, eliminations were decided by a jury and not by the public.

Popstars is a singing competition series in the Netherlands. The first series started on 22 August 2008. A second series was aired for 2009-2010 and third series aired in 2010-2011. The winners in season 1 were RED! made up of the three finalist winners Brandi Russell, Steffie Zoontjes and Deon Leon. Wesley Klein won in season 2 and Dean Saunders in season 3.

The precursor of these shows was the Dutch version of Popstars: The Rivals broadcast on RTL 4 in 2004 hosted by Beau van Erven Dorens. The series was won by the boy band Men2B (male category) and girl band Raffish (female category). Both disbanded in 2006.

Popstars (Brazilian TV series)

Popstars was a Brazilian reality television series based on the Popstars international series. In Brazil, Popstars was produced by RGB and broadcast on the Brazilian Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT) channel. Two series was broadcast for two seasons in 2002 and 2003, after which it was discontinued.

Popstars was a prime time program introduced on SBT to counter very successful reality television programs introduced by Rede Globo television chain via their series Casa dos Artistas and No Limite. The Brazilian Popstar series was broadcast for two seasons in 2002 and 2003.

Season 1 (2002)

The 2002 season was a competition of female bands to be chosen from prospective singers. It particularly saw the introduction of the girl band Rouge, who finished second in the series, but proved to be a highly successful band with high sales of songs "Ragatanga" (Asereje), "Um Anjo Veio me Falar", "Não dá pra Resistir" and "Beijo Molhado", that were hits in 2002 and 2003. "Ragatanga" (Asereje) was a Portuñol version of The Ketchup Song (Aserejé)" of Las Ketchup. The single sold more than 2 million copies in Brazil.

Say (All I Need)

"Say (All I Need)" is a song by American pop rock band OneRepublic. It is the third single released from their debut album Dreaming Out Loud and follows the global success of their previous top ten singles, "Apologize" and "Stop and Stare". OneRepublic vocalist Ryan Tedder has commented that "Say (All I Need") is his "favorite track on the album." All five members of the band Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher and Brent Kutzle share writing and composing credits on the song. The single was released in the UK on June 2, 2008 and features their Live Lounge cover of Duffy's single "Mercy". The single was released on June 24, 2008 in the United States.

The song was recorded at Rocket Carousel Studios in Culver City by producer Greg Wells and engineer Drew Pearson. The chorus of the song was featured during the most recent season of The Hills. Also it featured in the pilot episode of the TV series, The Vampire Diaries. On July 3, 2008, OneRepublic made a guest appearance on So You Think You Can Dance (U.S. season 4) for a live performance of "Say (All I Need)". In France, the song was recorded as a duet with the French R&B singer Sheryfa Luna and was renamed as Say (À l'infini).

Say (song)

"Say" is a song by John Mayer written for the Rob Reiner film The Bucket List in 2007. It was released as a single on November 20 and is the first commercial single in Mayer's career that was not originally released on one of his albums but added to the special edition re-release of his album, Continuum. In the U.S., it has become the artist's highest charting single to date, reaching number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100 in May, 2008. The song earned Mayer another Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, his fourth win on the category.

Overview

The music video for "Say" was directed by music video director Vem. The song is also referred to as "Say (What You Need to Say)" as this is the main line from the chorus of the song. The song was also the first "assignment" song that Mayer had ever written. He felt a little soul-less in the initial composition, writing just a terribly simple song. He notes that when writing the song "I don't know how much harder it gets than to see a beautiful, bittersweet movie and then have to write a song that matches the tone." Mayer posted the song on his official blog on November 16.

Say (Method Man song)

"Say" is the first and only single from rapper Method Man's fourth studio album, 4:21... The Day After. It samples Lauryn Hill's "So Many Things to Say" from MTV's Unplugged. The song finds Method Man addressing critics and fickle fans for disrespecting him, his swag and his Wu-Tang brethren.
