Earshot is an American hard rock/alternative metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band has released three albums: Letting Go, Two, The Silver Lining, and have most recently announced plans to release their 4th studio album, a 5 song Mini-LP entitled "Aftermath" on April 16th 2015.
The band formed in 1999, with singer Wil Martin collaborating with guitarist Scott Kohler, bassist Guy Couturier and drummer Todd Wyatt in L.A. Bassist Johnny Sprague and guitarist Mike Callahan joined the band shortly after their debut was completed.
Singer-songwriter Wil has cited Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, U2, and Soundgarden as influences and inspirations.
The band's debut album, Letting Go, featured the song "Get Away". It received significant radio airplay, while the song "Headstrong" was featured in the motion picture Queen of the Damned. The songs "Get Away" and "Headstrong" were also included in the video game Legends of Wrestling 2 for Playstation 2 and Xbox. After months of touring with Staind, Kid Rock and Stone Temple Pilots, "Get Away" peaked at No. 4 on the charts and stayed in the Top 100 for over 60 weeks. Earshot returned to the studio in late 2002 after spending much of that year on the road.
Exclaim! (also known as exclaim!) is a monthly Canadian music magazine that features in-depth coverage of new music across all genres with special focus on Canadian and cutting-edge artists. Content is based on the monthly print publication, publishes 11 issues per year, distributing over 100,000 copies to over 2,600 locations across Canada.
Exclaim! began as a discussion among campus/community radio programmers at Ryerson's CKLN-FM in 1991. The goal of the publication was to support great Canadian music that was otherwise going unheralded. It was started by Ian Danzig, together with other programmers and Toronto musicians. The group worked through 1991 to produce their first issue in early 1992, with monthly issues being produced since.
Similarly to an alternative weekly newspaper, the magazine is distributed as a free publication at campus and community radio stations, bars, record stores, libraries, and coffee shops. It also offers mail subscriptions. With Chart's decision to cease publication of its newsstand edition in January 2009, Exclaim! is now Canada's only nationally distributed general interest music magazine operating as a print publication.
"Earshot" is the 18th episode of season three of the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
On patrol, Buffy runs into two demons that she fights, and succeeds in killing one of them. While the other escapes, the blood from the demon she killed gets absorbed into the back of her hand after she kills it. The next day at the library, Buffy finds that they're making very little progress with the Mayor and stopping the ascension. Willow asks Buffy if she's talked to Angel and then suggests that Buffy straight out ask him what happened with Faith. Percy checks in with Willow to reschedule their study session and then she talks to Buffy about the basketball game after school which everyone except Buffy is going to.
Buffy goes to Giles after she finds that her hand is itching where she was cut and that, because she came in contact with the blood of one of the demons, she may be infected with an aspect of the demon. Xander and Oz watch the cheerleaders at the pep rally and Xander reveals that he still has a thing for Cordelia when he witnesses Wesley looking at her. Buffy is constantly worried as she waits to find out what aspect of the demon she'll be getting; Willow horrifies her, wondering if the demon was a male. She talks to Angel about it that night and he tells her he'd love her no matter what she looked like.
Headstrong may refer to:
Headstrong is the eponymous debut release and sole album of the band of the same name. It was released on RCA Records in 2002 and proved to be the group's only album before disbanding the following year.
The band chose Dan Brodbeck, the same man behind their demo, to produce the album in their hometown of London, Ontario, Canada..Headstrong features one single in "Adriana," which reached #15 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and had a music video. Its style features elements of hip hop and funk intertwined with metal and has been compared to bands like Rage Against the Machine, 311, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Prior to the release of Headstrong, the band toured through Canada from November to December 2001. Following its release, they performed with Tommy Lee before being curiously pulled from touring in July 2002. The following month they were dropped by RCA Records.
Curiously, despite that all of the members and producers were Canadian by origin, 'Headstrong' was priced at $24.99 in local Canadian markets, making it difficult for the band to earn fans in their debut in their own territory. The band cites these types of decisions in their reasons to exit the music business.
Headstrong is an American play by Patrick Link, commissioned by the EST/Sloan Project. It premiered at The Ensemble Studio Theatre in April, 2012.
The play explores the research behind concussions in professional sports and depicts a fictional former linebacker who must come to terms with the long-term consequences he may suffer from playing the game he loves.Headstrong was noted in an article on Grantland, in addition to other sites, to illustrate the growing public awareness of CTE. In 2013 the play was recorded by LA Theatre Works as part of its Relativity Series, featuring Ernie Hudson and Scott Wolf.
Strapped down and heavy, tied up
and bound
This weight I carry, this weight
I've found
So, let me be the one to say I've
really had enough
Downfallen on
(Yes, you meant the world to me)
My sweet love
So headstrong
(Are you?)
Strong
One time too many
You've let me down
Won't think what could be
Can' feel much now
Downfallen on
(Yes, you meant the world to me)
My sweet love
So headstrong
(Are you?)
Strong
Does it realy meant that much to you,
To hide your fear, to test the way I feel
Watch me fall
Watch me break
Watch me crawl
Watch me throw it all away
I can't believe the things you say, so
wrong for how I eel this way
I'm sleeping to relieve this strain so...
Calmly, slowly, softly, just let it all
