Mother (Blondie song)

"Mother" is the lead single from Blondie's ninth studio album Panic of Girls and was written by Kato Khandwala, Ben Phillips (Guitarist for The Pretty Reckless) and the band's lead singer Deborah Harry. It was released in the United Kingdom on May 22, 2011 on all major online platforms. It is the first single release from the band since "Good Boys" in 2003.

Background

The song was first performed in 2010 along with several other tracks from Panic of Girls during the band's Australian tour, as well as during festival appearances in the UK.

Release

On December 5, 2010 "Mother" was made available as a free download from the official Blondie website. The track was later remixed with a different vocal take for the album and single release. The track was played for the first time on March 17, 2011 on BBC Radio 2's The Ken Bruce Show. On Amazon.co.uk an explicit version was released alongside the regular one.

Artwork

The cover artwork for "Mother" was revealed on May 5, 2011. It displays a band picture digitally manipulated to resemble a Chris Berens painting, like the artwork for its parent album. Elements of the Panic of Girls cover art are used. Also the text is inspired by the original writing by Berens.

Mother (Kubb album)

Mother is the debut album of British band Kubb. It was released on 14 November 2005 in the UK on the Mercury Records label. It reached a peak of #26 the week of 13 February 2006. The album was never released in the US, although some versions have surfaced stateside (these versions removed the track "Bitch," bringing the album down to 11 tracks).

"Mother" is a song by Belgian singer Axel Hirsoux. It was chosen to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Denmark after winning Eurosong 2014. The song was written by Spanish songwriter Rafael Artesero and British songwriter Ashley Hicklin, who also composed the 2010 Belgium Eurovision entry "Me and My Guitar" performed by Tom Dice.

The Fairy Tail manga and anime series features an extensive cast of characters created by Hiro Mashima. The series primarily takes place in the Kingdom of Fiore, a country located in the fictional universe Earth-land, where several of its residents are able to perform various forms of magic. Those who practice magic as a profession, referred to as wizards (魔導士, madōshi),^{[vol. 2:translation notes]} join guilds where they share information and perform paid jobs for clients. The series' storyline follows a group of wizards from the rambunctious titular guild.

The main characters of the series include Natsu Dragneel, a wizard with the powers of a dragonslayer who is searching for his adoptive dragon father Igneel, and Lucy Heartfilia, a celestial wizard who joins the Fairy Tail guild. During the early part of the series, they form a team with Happy, a flying cat and friend of Natsu; Gray Fullbuster, an ice wizard; Erza Scarlet, a knight who specializes in using various magic weapons and armors. Over the course of the series, Lucy and Natsu interact with and befriend other wizards and guilds in Fiore. They also encounter various antagonists from illegal "dark" guilds, and Zeref, an ancient wizard who is sought out by several of the series' villains.

"Happy" is the sixteenth single by Bump of Chicken, released on April 14, 2010. It peaked at number-one on the Oricon weekly charts and Japan Hot 100.
