Hanuman
Hanuman (/ˈhʌnʊˌmɑːn, ˈhɑːnʊ-, ˌhʌnʊˈmɑːn, ˌhɑːnʊ-/; Hanumān in IAST); also known as Mahavira or Bajrangbali, is a Hindu god and an ardent devotee of the god Rama. He is a central character in the Hindu epic Ramayana and its various versions. He is also mentioned in several other texts, including Mahabharata, the various Puranas and some Jain texts. A vanara (monkey), Hanuman participated in Rama's war against the demon king Ravana. Several texts also present him as an incarnation of the god Shiva. He is the son of Anjana and Kesari, and is also described as the son of the wind-god Vayu, who according to several stories, played a role in his birth.
Etymology and other names
The Sanskrit texts mention several legends about how Hanuman got his name. One legend is that Indra, the king of the gods, struck Hanuman's jaw during his childhood (see below). The child received his name from the Sanskrit words Hanu ("jaw") and -man (or -mant, "prominent" or "disfigured"). The name thus means "one with prominent or disfigured jaw". Another theory says the name derives from the Sanskrit words Han ("killed" or "destroyed") and maana (pride); the name implies "one whose pride was destroyed". Some Jain texts mention that Hanuman spent his childhood on an island called Hanuruha, which is the origin of his name.

Hanuman (2005 film)
Hanuman (Hindi: हनुमान) is a 2005 animated feature film released by Manit of India, Percept Pictures and Silvertoons. The animated film dramatizes the life of its title character, Hanuman, a Hindu God. The animation was created by Kakarakaya Pulsu. It is India's first major commercial family animated feature (there were several earlier ones made by Pentamedia Graphics). Its box office was Rs. 8.18 crores and was declared a hit.
Plot
This animated movie depicts Hanuman's life from birth. The narrator is actor Mukesh Khanna. The movie relays how Hanuman was born to Anjani (a female Apsara) and Kesari, by the blessings of Vayu-Dev, the Wind God. Hanuman, who is the 11th rudra avatar of Shiva was blessed with supreme intelligence, strength and divine powers. As a baby, Hanuman was quite naughty and used his powers to pester the saints living in the nearby forest. Once when he was hungry, he leapt to catch the sun thinking it was a fruit.
On the insistence of Vayu, Indra and the other Gods came together to bless Hanuman with immortal life. Hanuman's blessings include: no fear/harm from the Brahmastra, no harm could befall him from weapons, fire or water. He could overcome death and he could transform his body to take the smallest form or attain the biggest form of life. Blessed with divine powers Hanuman grew up to be powerful. He helped Lord Ram and Laxman in their search for Sita. Hanuman burned the golden city Lanka and with his super powers helped Lord Ram and Laxman defeat Ravana and secure the release of Sita. Seeing his devotion and love towards him, Lord Ram blessed Hanuman with the boon of immortality.

Daas is a 2005 Tamil action-romance film written and directed by newcomer Babu Yogeswaran. The film stars Jayam Ravi, Renuka Menon in lead and Vadivelu, Livingston, Adithya Menon, Shanmugarajan and Monica among others in supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film, released in 2005, was a hit.
Plot
The film begins in a small village in Tirunelveli district where a few upper caste men hold a chariot festival. Antony (Jayam Ravi) along with his friends pull the chariot in to their slum and they naturally incur the wrath of a local leader Annachi (Shanmuga Rajan). Meanwhile his daughter Rajeswari (Renuka Menon) falls in love with Daas. Her sister Punitha (Monica) elopes to marry a lower caste boy Guna (Abhinay), a classmate of Daas.
Coming to know about this, Annachi sends his men to bump off the couple. Eventually, Annachi set the couple ablaze in front of Daas. An angry Rajeswari in order to teach her father a lesson elopes with Daas and vows to get married. The couple then seeks refuge in the house of Nasser (Krishna) in Madurai. He promises to get them married. However coming to know about their hideout, Annachi's men reach Madurai to foil their plans. Nasser's father Vappa (Salil Ghouse) promises to get them united. Enters Anwar (Adithya Menon), Nasser's brother, who plans to let loose terror in the Madurai town in the name of Jehad.

Film is a period drama that depicts timeless struggle between religion and secular authority, idealism and duplicity, eroticism and faith.
