The name sic is a proposed top-level domain for the Domain Name System of the Internet. It is as an abbreviation of Siculitas (Székely), a historic region in Transylvania, and was requested in 2009 by an initiative of the Szekler National Council for presenting Szeklerland on the Internet.

The application was accepted by ICANN on May 13, 2009.

Almah (band)

Almah is a Brazilian metal band. It was initially established in 2006 as a side project of former Angra’s singer Edu Falaschi. Since 2006 Almah has released three albums and has turned from a solo-project into a band with regular activities. The band released its third album entitled "Motion" in October 2011. "Motion" was recorded at Norcal Studios in São Paulo, Brasil between May and June 2011. The album was mixed and mastered by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound Studios in Amsterdam in July 2011. They released theirfourth album "Unfold" in 2013, and a compilation titled "Within The Last Eleven Lines" in 2015.

Biography

The first self-titled Almah was released in the second half of 2006 (Japan/Victor-JVC and Brazil/Laser Company) / in March 2007 (Europe/AFM Records). Besides singing, Edu Falaschi also produced the record, composed all the songs and wrote all the lyrics. He recorded acoustic guitars and keyboards and created all the arrangements for every instrument, including orchestrations. The album was recorded in Finland and Brazil with the following musicians: Emppu Vuorinen (guitars – Nightwish), Lauri Porra (bass – Stratovarius) and Casey Grillo (drums – Kamelot) and special guest appearances: Mike Stone (guitars – Queensrÿche), Edu Ardanuy (guitars – Dr. Sin) and Sizão Machado (bass – Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque and others) among others.

Unfold (Marié Digby album)

Unfold is the debut solo album by singer/songwriter Marié Digby. The album features the singles "Umbrella" (a cover of the Rihanna hit), "Say It Again" and "Stupid for You", and was released on April 8, 2008 in the United States via Hollywood Records. The album debuted at #29 on the Billboard 200 with 18,000 copies sold in its first week.

Digby started the recording process in early 2006. She worked with important producers, Dave Bassett (Idina Menzel), Mike Daly (Kid Rock), and Tom Rothrock (James Blunt).

Digby rode the internet video channel to a hit iTunes single, a Gap ad, and a song on Smallville. Digby's homemade videos feature her acoustic interpretations of hits by Rihanna, Linkin Park, and others - "Umbrella" being the most popular - and her debut includes more fully realized versions of those songs alongside Digby's originals.

Hands (Dave Holland and Pepe Habichuela album)

Hands is a 2010 album by English jazz double bassist Dave Holland and Spanish flamenco guitarist Pepe Habichuela. The unlikely pairing was arranged by Minuel Ferrand, the director of musical events for the Cultural Department of Andalusia. The first meeting took place in 2007, with four days of rehearsals, followed by three concerts. The group was expanded in May of 2008 and recorded Hands in March of 2009, and released on Holland's own label Dare2. Eight of the ten tracks on the album were written by Pepe Habichuela based on the flamenco tradition, while Holland contributes two originals.

Reception

The Guardian called Holland's sound, "a natural for this richly sonorous idiom". Chris May of All About Jazz called Hands, "an elegant, lyrical, rhythmically spicy blend of jazz and flamenco in which flamenco gets top billing. The Allmusic review by Chris Nickson awarded the album 4 stars stating "It's Habichuela's magical fingers that mesmerize, covering the scales as adroitly as any pianist and bringing a rich fullness and a stunning imagination to the sound. But what's really at work here is a group consciousness, an exploration of flamenco, and the listener shares Holland's journey. There's nothing here that's diluted - this is hardcore flamenco, very much the real thing - and the hard realism is one of the great pleasures."
