En natt jag vandrade i skogen
Avmagrad, blek och tärd
Omsluten av ett mörker och en stillhet
Så tyst och förundransvärd
Den natten jag lämnade livet
Den existens som jag aldrig har ägt
Många tysta månklara nätter
Detta självmord jag övervägt
Skymningen färgar himlen röd
I skogen jag vilar, om hösten död
När solens första sken långsamt
Kysser skogens lövbeströda jord
Bildas en dunkel stämning
Som ej kan beskrivas med ord
Stillsam är denna tavla
Tills den uppväcks av höstregnets fall
På den fuktiga marken jag vilar
En skepnad så vit och kall
