HNF1A

HNF1 homeobox A (hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 homeobox A), also known as HNF1A, is a human gene.

The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor that is highly expressed in the liver and is involved in the regulation of the expression of several liver-specific genes.

Clinical significance

HNF1A mutations can cause maturity onset diabetes of the young type 3, one of the forms of "monogenic diabetes", as well as hepatocellular adenoma.

Interactions

HNF1A has been shown to interact with:

  • CREB-binding protein and
  • EP300,
  • PCAF,
  • PCBD1,
  • RAC3, and
  • Src.
