Hong Kong Broadband Network
Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited (HKBN) is a broadband service provider with one of the biggest fibre optic networks in Hong Kong.
In 2004, HKBN built the largest Metro Ethernet network in the world. In 2005, HKBN was the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the city offering 1000Mbit/s residential Fibre-to-the-Home service at $26. In 2013, HKBN extended its Wi-Fi business development and acquired Y5ZONE Limited. HKBN’s fibre optic network now covers over 2 million residential homes and more than 1,900 commercial buildings.
In May 2012, HKBN underwent a management buy-out and is now majority-owned by funds advised by CVC Capital Partners and 91 HKBN Co-Owners.
