Phoebe Tonkin

Phoebe Jane Elizabeth Tonkin (born 12 July 1989) is an Australian actress and model. She is best known for portraying Cleo Sertori in H2O: Just Add Water, Fiona Maxwell in Tomorrow, When the War Began, Faye Chamberlain in The Secret Circle, and Hayley Marshall in the CW TV series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off series The Originals.

Early life

Tonkin was born in Sydney. When she was four, she attended dance courses in classical ballet, hip hop, contemporary dance, and tap dance. At the age of 12, Tonkin began courses at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) at the Wharf Theatre. Tonkin attended Loreto Kirribilli and later graduated from the Queenwood School for Girls.

Career

In December 2005, Tonkin was cast as the role of Cleo Sertori on the Australian children television series H2O: Just Add Water which follows the lives of three teenage girls who turn into mermaids. Tonkin improved on her swimming abilities during the pre-production of the series. The series premiered on 7 July 2006 on Network Ten and has since gone on to be aired to a worldwide audience of more than 250 million. To promote the series she and her co-stars presented the best band award at the Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Awards in October 2007. In 2008, Tonkin was nominated for "Best Lead Actress in a Television Series" at the prestigious Australian Film Institute Awards. The series ran for three seasons with the series finale airing on 16 April 2010.

Angus McLaren

Angus McLaren (born 3 November 1988) is an Australian actor who is best known for his roles in the television series Packed to the Rafters as Nathan Rafter and H2O: Just Add Water as Lewis McCartney.

Personal life

McLaren was born in Wonthaggi, Victoria and grew up on a dairy farm near Leongatha. He is the drummer of the band Rapids and also plays bass guitar in the band Bogey Lowensteins. His parents are both Scottish.

Acting career

After appearing in a number of amateur productions for the Leongatha Lyric Theatre, as well as school productions, McLaren made the leap to professional work with a recurring role on the ABC series Something in the Air, when he was 12 years old. Several further TV credits followed, including the children's series Worst Best Friends, The Saddle Club and Fergus McPhail, guest roles on Blue Heelers, Comedy Inc and a recurring role on Neighbours.

McLaren's first main cast role came in 2004 with the children's series Silversun, which aired on both the Seven Network and the ABC. His feature film debut followed in 2005 with the low budget Melbourne feature Court of Lonely Royals, directed by Rohan Michael Hoole. 2005 also saw McLaren work on Last Man Standing, and achieve a solid footing on the advert voiceover circuit. In 2006, McLaren began working on the children's series H₂O: Just Add Water, appearing from series one through midseason of series three as the character Lewis McCartney. From 2008, he appeared in Packed to the Rafters in the role of Nathan Rafter.

Claire Holt

Claire Rhiannon Holt (born 11 June 1988) is an Australian actress, best known for her roles as Emma Gilbert on the television show H2O: Just Add Water, Chastity Meyer on Mean Girls 2, and Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off series The Originals.

Early life

Holt was born in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She graduated from Stuartholme School in Toowong at the end of 2005. She is involved in several sports: swimming, volleyball, water polo, and Tae-Kwon-Do, in which she has a black belt. When she was younger, she was in the school choir.

Career

In 2006, Holt won the role of Emma Gilbert in the Network Ten children's television series H2O: Just Add Water. The show has earned a Logie Award and Nickelodeon Australia Kids' Choice Award. While the series was renewed for a third series, Holt left the show after series two after signing on for the sequel to the 2007 film The Messengers, titled Messengers 2: The Scarecrow. Filming took place in Sofia throughout 2008. Starring alongside Norman Reedus and Heather Stephens, the film was released 21 July 2009 straight-to-DVD.

H2O: Just Add Water

H₂O: Just Add Water, also known as H₂O, is an Australian dramatic fantasy television programme for children and teenagers created by Jonathan M. Shiff. It first screened on Australia's Network Ten and runs in syndication on channels in over 120 countries and has a worldwide audience of more than 250 million. It was filmed on location at Sea World and other locations on the Gold Coast. The show's premise revolves around three teenage girls facing everyday teen problems with an added twist: they're mermaids with powers over water. The theme song "No Ordinary Girl" is performed by Ellie Henderson in series one, by Kate Alexa in series two and by Indiana Evans in series three.

Only two series with a total of 52 episodes were originally planned, but due to popular demand, a third and final series was filmed. Series one premiered in July 2006, followed by series two in September 2007. Series three first aired in the United Kingdom in October 2009, with the Australian premiere occurring in May 2010.

Emma Gilbert (Claire Holt), Cleo Sertori (Phoebe Tonkin) and Rikki Chadwick (Cariba Heine) are three sixteen-year-old girls who become stranded on the mysterious Mako Island. When they enter an underground pool of water that leads to the ocean they find themselves bathed in the glow of moonlight from overhead. After being rescued the girls return to their normal lives but soon discover they have changed: seconds after contact with water they transform into mermaids. After further experimentation, they discover they also have unique supernatural powers over water. Emma can freeze water, Cleo can control the shape and volume of water, and Rikki can boil water. The girls enlist Cleo's long-time friend Lewis McCartney (Angus McLaren) to try to determine why this has happened to them and help them keep their new identity a secret. The series focuses on the girls dealing with everyday teen problems while trying to cope with their newfound abilities.

H2O: Just Add Water (2011 soundtrack)

H2O: Just Add Water is the television soundtrack for series three of the children's television show of the same name. It is sung by actress Indiana Evans and features twelve tracks. The album was first released on iTunes on 17 February 2011, and worldwide in March 2011. It is the second soundtrack released for the show.

Cariba Heine

Cariba Heine (born 1 October 1988) is a South African-born Australian actress and dancer. She is known for her roles as Rikki Chadwick in the Network Ten show H2O: Just Add Water, Bridget Sanchez in Blue Water High, and Caroline Byrne in A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne.

Early life

Heine was born in Johannesburg to South African parents Michelle, a former showgirl, and Kevin Heine. She moved to Australia at the age of three with her parents and older brother Kyle (born 1985).

Career

Dancing

Her early days included training in jazz dance, tap dance, classical ballet, acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics, and studying acting and singing at National Capital Acting School She danced at her mother's dance school in Canberra, where she later attended Telopea Park School and St Clare's College. She was the youngest dancer to perform at the Stargazers Convention in Sydney, Australia. She was homeschooled to focus on her dance career, and performed in many stage productions, including a tour in the United States, where she featured in the music video for Will Young's song "Leave Right Now". After a serious hip injury, she was suggested to turn temporarily to acting by her manager.
