H. R. Milner

Horatio Ray Milner, CC, QC (27 March 1889 – 24 May 1975) was a lawyer and businessman.

Milner was born in Sackville, New Brunswick, the son of lawyer, newspaper publisher and historian William Cochrane Milner. His higher education was at Halifax, Nova Scotia where he graduated from Dalhousie University law school in 1911, following his 1909 graduation from King's College. He would return to Kings as Chancellor between 1957 to 1963.

In 1912, he was a founding partner of the Edmonton, Alberta legal firm of Milner and Steer, forerunner of today's Fraser Milner Casgrain. He would be called to military service in World War I, after which he was appointed King's Counsel (later, Queen's Counsel upon the 1952 accession of Queen Elizabeth).

He become associated with various utilities and natural gas companies in Alberta, and was a founding director of Canadian Utilities.

He was married twice, first to Catherine "Rina" Bury (d. 1952), and second, in 1954, to Veronica Villiers Fitzgerald (d. 1998). Milner died in Qualicum, British Columbia, aged 86.

Höðr

Höðr (often anglicized as Hod, Hoder, or Hodur) is a blind god and the brother of Baldr in Norse mythology. Tricked and guided by Loki, he shot the mistletoe arrow which was to slay the otherwise invulnerable Baldr.

According to the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda, the goddess Frigg, Baldr's mother, made everything in existence swear never to harm Baldr, except for the mistletoe, which she found too unimportant to ask (alternatively, which she found too young to demand an oath from). The gods amused themselves by trying weapons on Baldr and seeing them fail to do any harm. Loki, the mischief-maker, upon finding out about Baldr's one weakness, made a spear from mistletoe, and helped Höðr shoot it at Baldr. In reaction to this, Odin and the giantess Rindr gave birth to Váli, who grew to adulthood within a day and slew Höðr.

The Danish historian Saxo Grammaticus recorded an alternative version of this myth in his Gesta Danorum. In this version, the mortal hero Høtherus and the demi-god Balderus compete for the hand of Nanna. Ultimately, Høtherus slays Balderus.

Höör

Höör (Swedish pronunciation: [hœːr]) is a locality and the seat of Höör Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 7,865 inhabitants in 2010.

The town's original spelling was Hör. The present, unusual spelling with double "ö" was implemented by the Swedish postal service at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, it was a common practice in Sweden to write Här (for here) on the address column of local letters. In order to avoid confusion between letters to be delivered locally and those intended for Hör, the postal service has therefore changed the town's name to Höör.

Transport

Höör railway station is located on the northern side of the town and a five-minute walk into the central square. It is on the line between Kristianstad and Malmö, where there are frequent commuter trains running beyond Sweden to Copenhagen in Denmark.

Hár is a crater on Jupiter's moon Callisto. Its name is one of the many names of Odin, the supreme god in Norse mythology. This is an example of a central dome impact crater.

.32 H&R Magnum

The .32 H&R Magnum is a rimmed cartridge designed for use in revolvers. It was developed in 1984 as a joint venture between Harrington & Richardson and Federal Cartridge. The .32 H&R Magnum is produced by lengthening the .32 S&W Long case by .155", to 1.075".

Performance

The .32 H&R Magnum offers substantially more performance than other .32 caliber handgun cartridges, such as the .32 ACP, and can be considered an effective small game hunting cartridge. Its higher velocity offers a flat trajectory, while the light weight of the bullets results in low recoil. The older .32-20 Winchester was extremely popular in the Winchester lever- and Colt single-actions, available at the turn of the century, for small-medium game hunting. The .32 H&R offers near duplicate performance.

One of the .32 H&R magnum's favorable attributes is that it offers .38 Special energy levels and allows a small-frame revolver to hold 6 cartridges, whereas a similarly sized revolver in .38 special would only hold 5 rounds. Penetration is also increased compared to the .38 special with bullets of the same weight.
