Gypsy Girl

Gypsy Girl was a TV series that ran on CITV in early 2001, based on the books The Parsley Parcel and Gold and Silver Water by Elizabeth Arnold. It centred on a gypsy girl (Freya Boswell) and her family, who lived in a typical gypsy caravan on the corner of a typical suburban street. Her great-grandmother was played by Eleanor Bron. She was often called "Gyppo", a derogatory term, by a boy who disliked her.

Zeugma, Commagene

Zeugma (Greek: Ζεῦγμα) is an ancient city of Commagene; located in modern Gaziantep Province, Turkey. It is a historical settlement that is considered among the four most important settlement areas under the reign of the kingdom of Commagene. It was named for the bridge of boats, or zeugma, that crossed the Euphrates river at that location.

Historical background

Originally, the ancient city of Zeugma was founded as a Greek settlement by Seleucus I Nicator, one of the generals of Alexander the Great, in 300 BC. King Seleucus almost certainly named a city Seleucia after himself; whether this city is, or may be, the city known as Seleucia on the Euphrates or Seleucia at the Zeugma is disputed. The population in the city at its peak was approximately 80,000.

In 64 BC the city was conquered and ruled by the Roman Empire. It is presumed that the shift of the name of the city occurred at that time. Zeugma, means "bridge-passage" or "bridge of boats". During Roman rule, the city became one of the attractions in the region, due to its commercial potential originating from its geo-strategic location because the city was on the Silk Road connecting Antioch to China with a quay or pontoon bridge across the river Euphrates, the border with the Persian Empire until the late second century.

Sky West and Crooked

Sky West and Crooked is a 1965 film, starring Hayley Mills, directed by her father John Mills, and co-written by her mother Mary Hayley Bell. It was released in the US as Gypsy Girl.

Plot summary

Hayley Mills plays a seventeen-year-old girl, Brydie White, in a village in the West Country of England. Brydie suffers arrested development after her involvement in a shooting accident. Though physically mature, she retains the mentality and social connections of a teenager and a fascination with dead animals and burial. Believing that she will be unable to survive without her dying mother, the townsfolk fear commitment to an institution is inevitable. Her involvement with a young gypsy man, Roibin Krisenki (played by Ian McShane in one of his earliest film roles) and later personal loss manage to at least partly resolve these mental issues.

In systems analysis, a one-to-one relationship is a type of cardinality that refers to the relationship between two entities (see also entity–relationship model) A and B in which one element of A may only be linked to one element of B, and vice versa. For instance, think of A as countries, and B as capital cities. A country has only one capital city, and a capital city is the capital of only one country

In a relational database, a one-to-one relationship exists when one row in a table may be linked with only one row in another table and vice versa. It is important to note that a one-to-one relationship is not a property of the data, but rather of the relationship itself. A list of mothers and their children may happen to describe mothers with only one child, in which case one row of the mothers table will refer to only one row of the children table and vice versa, but the relationship itself is not one-to-one, because mothers may have more than one child, thus forming a one-to-many relationship.

An example is a telephone call, in which one telephone is connected with one other, and what is said by one caller can only be heard by the other. Examples of point-to-multipoint communications systems are radio and television broadcasting.

The term is also used in computer networking and computer architecture to refer to a wire or other connection that links only two computers or circuits, as opposed to other network topologies such as buses or crossbar switches which can connect many communications devices.

Point-to-point is sometimes abbreviated as P2P, Pt2Pt. This usage of P2P is distinct from P2P referring to peer-to-peer file sharing networks.
