Gut Check

"Gut Check" is the sixteenth episode of the eighth season of House and the 171th overall. It aired on April 9, 2012 on FOX.

Plot

House and the team take on the case of a 22-year-old minor league hockey player, Bobby "The Hatchet" Hatcher who collapsed while coughing up blood after a fight on the ice. Complications ensue, such as male breast development, and after several false diagnoses the patient is saved.

Wilson finds out that he may have fathered a son 11 years ago in a broken relationship, but House neglected to tell Wilson at the time. Wilson contacts the ex-girlfriend and makes arrangements to meet his son. They get along well, and Wilson takes him to his apartment where the son fixes a fancy pizza with prosciutto and goat cheese. Wilson has a crisis when the son tells him that his mother wants to move to Costa Rica and that he would like to move in with Wilson instead. Wilson confesses that he doesn't feel ready to have his son live with him but House makes the problem go away by revealing that the "son" was a child actor hired by him.

Gut Check (NCIS)

"Gut Check" is the ninth episode of the eleventh season of the American police procedural drama NCIS, and the 243rd episode overall. It originally aired on CBS in the United States on November 19, 2013. The episode is written by Christopher J. Wald and directed by Dennis Smith, and was seen by 19.66 million viewers.

Plot

During a briefing in the Multiple Threat Assessment Center (MTAC) by the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV), network security detects an unauthorized electronic signal being broadcast, and the room is placed in lock down. While McGee sweeps the room, DiNozzo scans the four defense contractor representatives the SECNAV was briefing. Nothing is found until DiNozzo comes in close proximity to SECNAV, and his scanner goes off. A pen containing a covert listening device is found on SECNAV, but she cannot remember when or where the pen came from.

As the investigation proceeds, DiNozzo finds a two-year-old National Security Agency (NSA) threat analysis report that describes the exact scenario of the security breach. Gibbs and DiNozzo visit the National Security Operations Center where they meet analyst Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop, the paper's author. Gibbs brings Bishop back to NCIS to assist in the investigation.

Coastal channels

Many guts are straits but some are at a river mouths where tidal currents are strong. The comparatively large quantities of water that flow quite quickly through a gut can cause heavy erosion that results in a channel deeper than the rest of the surrounding seabed, and the currents may present a hazard to ships and boats at times.

The term "gut" is primarily (though not exclusively) applied to channels of the coastal waters of the Atlantic coast of North America. A similar term of related but not identical meaning, "gat", is applied to some narrow waterways of the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts of Europe.

Gut is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal on gastroenterology and hepatology. It is the journal of the British Society of Gastroenterology and is published by the BMJ Group. As of 2013, the editor-in-chief is Emad El-Omar.

Gut was established in 1960 and covers original research on the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, and biliary tract. The journal has annual supplements covering the presentations from the British Society of Gastroenterology Annual General Meeting. British Society of Gastroenterology clinical practice guidelines are also published as supplements to the journal.
