Guilt (Revenge)

"Guilt" is the fifth episode of the American television series Revenge, The episode premiered on ABC on October 19, 2011.

It was written by Nikki Toscano and directed by Kenneth Fink.

Plot

Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) finds out through Frank (Max Martini), that Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) has lied about his supposed business trip. When she confronts him about the secret rendezvous with Lydia Davis (Amber Valletta), Daniel Grayson's (Josh Bowman) friend Tyler (Ashton Holmes) overhears and tells Daniel about it. Daniel comes to see Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) and they patch things up. Conrad gifts Victoria a peace offering in the form of a $200,000 car, which she ultimately gives to Charlotte Grayson (Christa B. Allen) in an attempt to mend their relationship.

Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) plants a hidden camera in Emily's house, thus catching Lydia expressing her desire to get the house back from Emily. Emily refuses to give up the house and proceeds to ship Lydia's remaining belongings to her new place. Nolan's hidden camera goes with the belongings and catches Lydia threatening Conrad about exposing their involvement in framing David Clarke (James Tupper). Nolan also sees Lydia seeming to have found out about Emily's past. He races to tell Emily that she might be in trouble. Frank breaks into Lydia's place and discovers documents suggesting she was the mastermind of the recent falls of influential people in the community. Lydia comes home and they get into a scuffle that ends with Lydia falling from the rooftop.

Guilt (2009 film)

Guilt (Greek: "Ενοχή" 2009) is a feature Greek - Cypriot film, directed by the Greek director - writer and producer Vassilis Mazomenos. It was awarded in 2012 with the Best Screenwriting and Best Photography award in London Greek Film Festival (U.K.) and was official selection in Montreal World Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, International Film Festival of India, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Fantasporto and opening film in the Panorama of European Cinema in Athens. In 2010 was Nominated for the best film from the Hellenic Film Academy. In 2010 the film received the Best Soundtrack (George Andreou) for Greek movies of the year. As Vrasidas Karalis wrote in the History of Greek cinema: "His later films Remembrance (2002) Words and Sins (2004) and Guilt (2010) received many positive reviews and international recognition; especially the last in which Mazomenos explored narrative cinema through a nightmarish and confronting story."

Guilt (The Long Blondes song)

"Guilt" is the second and last single to be taken from The Long Blondes' second album "Couples". It was released on 30 July 2008 as a limited edition 2-track 7" vinyl only.

The video for Guilt is set in a dog show. The band agreed to their suggestion to set the video in a dog show after receiving numerous literal interpretations of the lyrics. It was accompanied by one b-side called "Melville Farr" which is based on Dirk Bogarde's character in the 1961 British film Victim.

"Guilt" was well received by critics and fans alike, with some critics calling it their most accomplished effort to date. The single reached number 24 in the UK Indie Chart. The song did really well considering the lack of promotion, airplay and Dorian Cox being ill at the time of release.

"Good as Gold" is the only song by The Long Blondes not to be sung by Kate Jackson. It is sung by bassist Reenie Hollis.

Guilt (law)

In criminal law, guilt is the state of being responsible for the commission of an offense. Legal guilt is entirely externally defined by the state, or more generally a “court of law”. Being “guilty” of a criminal offense means that one has committed a violation of criminal law, or performed all the elements of the offense set out by a criminal statute. The determination that one has committed that violation is made by an external body (a “court of law”) and is, therefore, as definitive as the record-keeping of the body. So the most basic definition is fundamentally circular: a person is guilty of violating a law, if a court says so.

Philosophically, guilt in criminal law is a reflection of a functioning society and its ability to condemn individuals’ actions. It rests fundamentally on a presumption of free will, in which individuals choose actions and are, therefore, subjected to external judgement of the rightness or wrongness of those actions.

Revenge

Revenge is a form of primitive justice usually assumed to be enacted in the absence of the norms of formal law and jurisprudence. Often, revenge is defined as being a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived. It is used to right a wrong by going outside of the law. This is because the individual taking revenge feels as though the law will not do justice. Revenge is also known as payback, retribution, retaliation or vengeance; it may be characterized as a form of justice (not to be confused with retributive justice), an altruistic action which enforces societal or moral justice aside from the legal system. Francis Bacon described it as a kind of "wild justice" that "does... offend the law [and] putteth the law out of office". Primitive justice or retributive justice is often differentiated from more formal and refined forms of justice such as distributive justice and theological justice.

Function in society

Detractors argue that revenge is simply wrong, of the same design as "two wrongs make a right".

Revenge (season 4)

The fourth and final season of the ABC American television drama series Revenge premiered on September 28, 2014. The show continues to air Sundays at 10:00 pm (ET). This season sees several cast changes as both Barry Sloane and Henry Czerny's characters, Aiden Mathis and Conrad Grayson, were killed off in the Season 3 finale. This is the first season not to feature Czerny's character. James Tupper and Karine Vanasse who play David Clarke and Margaux LeMarchal respectively, have been upgraded to series regulars. The series stars Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp.

Brian Hallisay was cast as Ben, Jack's new police partner with hopes of becoming a detective. Elena Satine was cast as Louise, the daughter of a wealthy family.

The season focuses on the revelation that David Clarke is alive and the continued feud between Emily and Victoria, who finally knows Emily's true identity and seeks her own revenge. As David makes a return to the Hamptons the two women fight to position him against the other.

Revenge (NCIS)

"Revenge" is the 22nd episode of the tenth season of the American police procedural drama NCIS and the 232nd episode overall. It originally aired on CBS in the United States on April 30, 2013. The episode is written by George Schenck and Frank Cardea and directed by James Whitmore, Jr., and was seen by 18.29 million viewers.

The story arc was initiated in January when secondary characters Eli David (Michael Nouri) and Jackie Vance (Paula Newsome) were killed off in a shooting at the end of "Shabbat Shalom". Subsequent episodes featured Ziva David and Leon Vance's efforts to find the killer, eventually revealed to be Eli's protégé Ilan Bodnar, and exact vengeance.

In the closing scenes of the previous episode, "Berlin", Tony and Ziva are in a car crash instigated by Bodnar. "Revenge" focuses on the team's hunt for Bodnar against the wishes of Homeland Security, culminating in Vance and Ziva finally getting closure when the latter kills him in a physical fight to the death.
