Greg Hess

Gregory D. Hess (born August 6, 1962) is an American economist, college administrator, and the president of Wabash College. Hess served as professor of economics, dean of the faculty, and vice president of academic affairs at Claremont McKenna College prior to his appointment at Wabash College.

Early life and career

A native of San Francisco, Hess received an undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis, followed by master's and doctoral degrees at Johns Hopkins University.

Hess was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and an economist for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. He was later the dean of faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Claremont McKenna College and named the James G. Boswell Professor of Economics at the college in 2011. He was named president of Wabash College in July 2013.

Hess serves as book review editor of the journal Macroeconomic Dynamics. He is on the editorial board of Economics & Politics. Hess co-edited a book, Intranational Macroeconomics; two editions have been published. He is a member on the Shadow Open Market Committee and a fellow at the Center for Economic Studies.

Hess (crater)

Hess is a lunar crater that lies in the southern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. The crater rim has been worn by subsequent impacts, leaving a low, eroded outer wall. The flat interior has been resurfaced by lava flows and is free of significant impacts. This floor has a slightly darker albedo than the surrounding terrain.

The crater Boyle is nearly attached to the northeastern rim of Hess, and Abbe lies to the south. To the west is the large walled plain Poincaré, and Hess is located at the eastern edge of the crater's deeply eroded outer rim. The satellite crater Hess Z is partly overlaid by the northern rim of Hess. The small crater Hess M joins the south-southwest rim of Hess to the northwest rim of Abbe.

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Hess.

This is a list of craters on Mars. There are hundreds of thousands of impact craters on Mars, but only some of them have names. This list here only contains named Martian craters starting with the letter A – G (see also lists for H – N and O – Z).

Large Martian craters (greater than 60 km in diameter) are named after famous scientists and science fiction authors; smaller ones (less than 60 km in diameter) get their names from towns on Earth. Craters cannot be named for living people, and small crater names are not intended to be commemorative - that is, a small crater isn't actually named after a specific town on Earth, but rather its name comes at random from a pool of terrestrial place names, with some exceptions made for craters near landing sites. Latitude and longitude are given as planetographic coordinates with west longitude.

Greg (cartoonist)

Michel Régnier (5 May 1931 – 29 October 1999), best known by his pseudonym Greg, was a Belgian cartoonist best known for Achille Talon, and later became editor of Tintin magazine.

Biography

Regnier was born in Ixelles, Belgium in 1931. His first series, Les Aventures de Nestor et Boniface, appeared in the Belgian magazine Vers l'Avenir when he was sixteen. He moved to the comic magazine Héroic Albums, going on to work for the Franco-Belgian comics magazine Spirou in 1954. In 1955 he launched his own magazine, Paddy, but eventually discontinued it.

The series for which Greg is best known, Achille Talon, began in 1963 in Pilote magazine, also the source of comics such as Asterix. This series, which he both wrote and illustrated, presents the comic misadventures of the eponymous mild-mannered polysyllabic bourgeois. In all 42 albums appeared, the first years with short gags, later with full-length (i.e. 44 pages) stories. The series was continued by Widenlocher after the death of Greg. An English translation titled Walter Melon was unsuccessful. In 1996, an animated series of 52 episodes of 26 minutes each was produced. This series was also shown in English as Walter Melon. Other series Greg provided artwork for in the early 60s were the boxing series Rock Derby and the revival of Alain Saint-Ogan's classic series Zig et Puce.<ref name=lambiek"">Lambiek Comiclopedia.
