Govindpur, Allahabad
Govindpur is one of the oldest colonies established by Allahabad Development Authority back in 1981 at the bank of river Ganges.
Geography
The approximate area of the colony is 1.5 km2. It is situated on a plateau which protects it from the frequent floods of the river Ganges. It has three level of residential structures, EWS (economically weaker section), LIG (lower income group), MIG (middle income group) and HIG (higher income group)- representing a typical socio econimical class structure in India. It also comprises plots which gives it more elegant look.
Transportation
It is very well connected by local transport with the rest of the city with indigenous developed vehicles called Vikram supported by limited bus service.
Facilities
The oldest shop is that of Moti Yadav who sells sweets, samosas and tea. The main markets are Aashiyana market, Jeeshan market. Nearby localities are Chandpur, Salori, Bhulai ka Purwa, Chilla village, Shivpuri and Shivkuti. The best part of the place is at tikona park which houses LIG flats from 1 to 50. There is Uptron chowraha in Govindpur which is a local get together place for youngsters.There are two Durga Puja Parks here. Mamta Sweets is one of the sweet shop.Other shops include Ghosh Sweets,Real Cake Palace.The prime shopping place in govindpur is at Zeeshan market where various kinds of shops ranging from general store to gift shops can be found.There are a number of medical stores in govindpur,one can be found at zeeshan market and another important medical shop is Jaiswal Medical Store at Govindpur Chauraha.There are a number of roadside shops too that serve fast foods.

Govindpur (also spelled Gobindpur) is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Dhanbad district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 12 km from Dhanbad, the district headquarters.

Govindpur CD Block has an area of 33,443.81 ha, out of which 2,360.99 is forest area. It has 40 panchayats and 225 villages.
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Gobindpur CD Block had a total population of 245,697, of which 220,384 were rural and 25,313 were urban. There were 127,285 males and 118,412 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 27,617 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 34,026. Population below 6 years was 39,613.
Gobindpur CD Block has three census towns (2011 population figure in brackets): Gobindpur (11,318), Karmatanr (6,392) and Jangalpur (7,603).
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Gobindpur CD Block was 144,233 (69.99 per cent of the population above 6 years) out of which 86,322 were males and 54,901 were females.
