Free: The Future of a Radical Price

Free: The Future of a Radical Price is the second book written by Chris Anderson, Editor in chief of Wired magazine. The book was published on July 7, 2009 by Hyperion. He is also the author of The Long Tail, published in 2006.

Overview

Free follows a thread from the previous work. It examines the rise of pricing models which give products and services to customers for free, often as a strategy for attracting users and up-selling some of them to a premium level. That class of model has become widely referred to as "freemium" and has become very popular for a variety of digital products and services.

Release

Free was released in the United States on July 7, 2009, though the night before, on his blog, Chris Anderson posted a browser readable version of the book and the unabridged audiobook version. Anderson generated controversy for plagiarizing content from the online encyclopedia Wikipedia in Free. Anderson responded to the claim on his The Long Tail blog, stating that there were disagreements between him and the publisher over accurate citation of Wikipedia due to the changing nature of its content, leading him to integrate footnotes into the text. Also on his blog, he took full responsibility for the mistakes and noted that the digital editions of Free were corrected. The notes and sources were later provided as a download on his blog.

Free (Rivermaya album)

Free, is the fifth album from the Filipino rock band, Rivermaya. It has 10 tracks and was released independently on the internet, literally given away for free which is another first for any Filipino artist. “Free” was also named Album of the Year in the NU Rock Awards 2000 & is the last album with Nathan Azarcon.

The song "Imbecillesque" was re-released on their 2005 EP entitled "You'll Be Safe Here". The song "Straight No Chaser" was later covered by actor and reggae artist Boy2 Quizon.

On the back cover of the album, tracks #7 and #8 were typed incorrectly as in the order of the songs in the album.

Free... (EP)

Free... is an EP by stoner metal band Acid King. It was released in February 2001 on Man's Ruin Records, as a split CD with Clearlight. The first four songs are performed by Acid King, and the remaining two by Clearlight. The Clearlight portion is entitled The Father, the Son and the Holy Smoke.

Free... features Guy Pinhas performing bass, and is the first Acid King album on which he appears. Pinhas left the band after performing bass on their next album, III.

The cover artwork is a photograph of Acid King's frontwoman Lori S. holding her motorcycle helmet.

Goodbye (Persian: به امید دیدار‎‎, translit. Be omid e didār) is a 2011 Iranian film. It offers an incisive portrait of an Iranian citizen straining under curtailed personal freedoms.

Noura (Leyla Zareh) is an attorney whose license has been revoked by the government, as her resultant attempts at escape meet with ever-mounting roadblocks. Evoking a sense of dread and despair, Rasoulof (himself officially constrained from making more films) constructs a fitting metaphor for the stultifying pressures faced by many in today’s Iran.

Good-Bye (Sakanaction song)

"Good-Bye" (Japanese: グッドバイ, Hepburn: Guddobai) is a song by Japanese band Sakanaction. It was released as a single in January 2014, as a double A-side single with the song "Eureka". A rock ballad primarily based around non-electronic instruments, the song was composed by the band's vocalist Ichiro Yamaguchi about his mental state while physically unwell and mentally frustrated, after being unable to finish writing the song "Sayonara wa Emotion". In January 2014, a remix of the song was used in the NHK documentary program Next World: Watashi-tachi no Mirai, later to be included on the band's compilation album Natsukashii Tsuki wa Atarashii Tsuki: Coupling & Remix Works (2015).

The physical single debuted at number two on Oricon's weekly singles chart, while "Good-Bye" outperformed "Eureka" on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, also reaching number two. Critics received the song well, praising the song for its simple band sound that developed with the additional of guitar feedback, and believed that the song was an expression of a musician reaffirming their identity and their desire to continue into uncharted musical territory.

Goodbye (Grey's Anatomy)

"Goodbye" is the second episode of the sixth season of the American television medical drama Grey's Anatomy, and the show's 104th episode overall. It was written by Krista Vernoff and directed by Bill D'Elia. The episode was originally broadcast on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in the United States on September 24, 2009. In "Goodbye", the staff at Seattle Grace Hospital come to terms with the death of their colleague Dr. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight). Further storylines include Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) being engaged in a vehicular collision, Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) receiving a job as an attending physician at a neighboring hospital, and Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers)'s marriage with Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) taking a toll after her near-death experience.

The episode was the second part of the two-hour season six premiere special, the first being "Good Mourning", and was filmed in Los Angeles, California. The special was the first premiere that Knight did not appear in, following an early release from his contract, and Jessica Capshaw (Dr. Arizona Robbins)' first premiere in which she received star billing, having been upgraded from a recurring star from season five. Shannon Lucio reprised her role as a guest star, in addition to Amy Madigan, Martha Plimpton, Zack Shada, Mitch Pileggi, and Zoe Boyle. "Goodbye" opened to generally positive critical reviews, with Chyler Leigh (Dr. Lexie Grey)'s and Ramirez's performances praised in particular. Upon its initial airing, the episode was viewed by 17.03 million Americans, and garnered a 6.7/17 Nielsen rating/share in the 18–49 demographic, ranking first for the night.
