The Golden Ring (Russian: Золото́е кольцо́) is a ring of cities northeast of Moscow, the capital of Russia. They formerly comprised the region known as Zalesye.
These ancient towns, which also played a significant role in the formation of the Russian Orthodox Church, preserve the memory of the most important and significant events in Russian history. The towns have been called "open air museums" and feature unique monuments of Russian architecture of the 12th–18th centuries, including kremlins, monasteries, cathedrals, and churches. These towns are among the most picturesque in Russia and prominently feature Russia's famous onion domes.
There were eight cities originally included into the tourist route of Golden Ring, but many more are associated with it now (original ones are highlighted):
Many of these cities are to be found along the M8 highway or can be reached from Yaroslavl Railway Station in Moscow.

Golden Ring is an album by American country music artists George Jones and Tammy Wynette, released in 1976 on the Epic Records label. It reached #1 on the Billboard Country Album chart. The singles "Near You" and "Golden Ring" both reached #1 on the Country Singles chart.
"Golden Ring" is a song made famous by country music singers George Jones and Tammy Wynette. Originally released in 1976, the song was the title track to their duet album released that same year. It was a Number One hit on the Billboard country charts.
The song was conceived by songwriter Bobby Braddock, who had seen a television drama about the life of a handgun. The story showed the gun changing hands several times, with a hunter, police officer, criminal and a father of a 2-year-old child all owning the gun at one point, with the consequences played out in each segment. Braddock applied the same concept to a song about the life of a wedding ring. A young couple from Chicago - apparently very much in love - goes to a pawn shop to shop for a ring for their upcoming wedding. The man (both characters are unnamed in the song) laments that he is unable to pick out a more expensive band, but he's willing to buy it to show how much he loves his bride-to-be, whom - in the song's second verse - he marries in a small wedding chapel later on that afternoon. In the third verse, the couple has been fighting which leads to "their final round". The man accuses his wife of planning to leave town; the woman retorts by telling her husband she doesn't love him anymore, "and throws down the ring / as she walks out the door." The final verse features the ring, once again in a pawnshop waiting for its next owners. The refrains tell about the meaning of the ring through its lifecycle with the couple. The first refrain speaks of the promise of love shown in the glittering ring; the second verse talks about how "at last, it's found a home," and the finale tells of how the ring has been cast aside "like the love that's dead and gone." Each refrain ends with how a wedding band is meaningless without love. "By itself, it's just a cold metallic thing. / Only love can make a golden wedding ring".
Annaba /ˈænəbə/,US /əˈnɑːbə/ (Arabic: عنابة, ‘Annābah, formerly Bône or Bona, historically Hippo or Hippo Regius) is a city in the north-eastern corner of Algeria near the Seybouse River. It is located in Annaba Province. With a population of 257,359 (2008), it is the fourth largest city in Algeria. It is a leading industrial centre in eastern Algeria. Most of the people call this city بلد ألعنب Balad al-Unnâb, i.e. the city of jujubes, because of the abundance of this fruit in the area.
Annaba is a coastal city and has undergone significant growth. Annaba has a metropolitan area with a higher population density than the other metropolises of the Algerian coastline such as Oran and the capital Algiers. Much of eastern and southern Algeria seeks the services, equipment, and infrastructure of the city. Economically, it is the centre for various dynamic activities, such as industry, transport, finance and tourism.
The vicinity of Annaba has yielded evidence of very early human occupation at Ain el Hanech, near Saïda (c. 200,000 B.C.), including artifacts that show remarkable tool-making craftsmanship. According to some sources, prehistoric Algeria was the site of the most advanced development of flake-tool techniques in the Middle Early Stone Age (Middle Paleolithic).
Annaba (Arabic: ولاية عنابة) is a small province (wilaya) in the north-eastern corner of Algeria. Its capital, Annaba is Algeria's main port for mineral exports.
The province is divided into 6 districts and 12 municipalities.

In a pawn shop in Chicago
On a sunny summer day
A couple gazes at the wedding rings
There on display
She smiles 'n' nods her head
As he says, "Honey that's for you
It's not much, but it's the best
That I can do"
Golden rings, with one tiny little stone
Waiting there, for someone to take you home
By itself, it's just a cold metallic thing
Only love can make a golden wedding ring
In a little wedding chapel, later on that afternoon
An old upright piano plays that old familiar tune
Tears roll down her cheeks and happy thoughts run through her head
As he whispers low, with this ring, I thee wed
Golden ring, with one tiny little stone
Shining ring, now at last it's found a home
By itself, it's just a cold metallic thing
Only love can make a golden wedding ring
In a small two room apartment
As they fought their final round
He says, "You won't admit it
But I know you're leavin' town"
She says, "One thing's for certain
I don't love you any more"
And throws down the ring
As she walks out the door
Golden ring, with one tiny little stone
Cast aside, like the love that's dead and gone
By itself, it's just a cold metallic thing
Only love can make a golden wedding ring
