Golden Disk Awards
The Golden Disk Awards (Hangul: 골든 디스크 어워드) is an awards show founded in 1986 that is presented annually by the Music Industry Association of Korea for outstanding achievements in the music industry in South Korea.
Trophy
The trophy is called "Statue of a Woman Playing a Reed Instrument" (Korean: 생황 부는 여인상) that was designed by professor Kim Soo-Hyun (Hangul: 김수현).
Categories
Currently there are seven awards which are not restricted by genre, and three awards which are each in hip hop, rock, trot.
Grand Prize in Album Releasing (Disk Daesang), is awarded to the performer of the best of the best full-length album, mini-album (extended play) from the "Records of the Year".
Grand Prize in Digital Releasing (Digital Daesang), is awarded to the performer of the best of the best single (which was digital released), from the "Records of the Year in Digital Releasing".
Records of the Year are awarded to the performers of best full-length albums, mini-albums (extended plays) of the year.
