Gohar Rasheed

Gohar Rasheed (born Urdu: گوہر رشید‎; May 2, 1984) is an Pakistani television, film and theater actor. He is best known for his work in internationally acclaimed movie Seedlings for which he was nominated as a Best Actor in a Supporting Role at 2012 New York Film Festival and at 1st ARY Film Awards in same category and was nominated as a Best Actor at 13th Lux Style Awards.

Early life and education

Gohar was born in Lahore, Punjab on 2 May 1984. He attended Government College University, Lahore and went on to receive his undergraduate degree with majors in theater, film, television and minors in journalism from Beaconhouse National University. Gohar started his career from theater, which runs his career as a successful actor. Before entering to cinema, his parents wants him to enter family business of stock exchange, but Gohar did his graduation in entertainment media from BNU, Lahore, and moved to Karachi to pursue in media production, and got a job as a line producer at Hum TV, but quit after three years for theater.

Gohar, also known as Chak 8, is a village of Pattoki Tehsil, Kasur District in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Geography

It is located at 32°28'0N 73°19'0E with an altitude of 206 metres (679 feet). It is close to Gehlan.

Notable residents

Gohar is famous for two Islamic scholars, namely, Maulana Ishaq Rehmani and Maulana Mohi ud din Salfi. Molanah Ishaq Rehmani was a member of the Gen Ayub Advisory Council. Monalh Mohi ud din salfi served in Medina University in Saudi Arabia. There is also an Islamic Scholar named Maulana Ishaq.
