Glock 3

Glock 3 is a web site that appeared in 1996 that claimed to be for a gang in Detroit, Michigan. The web site was prominently featured in news articles and segments on television news. Its members claimed to be involved in extortion, robbery and other crimes. After being shut down by their Internet access provider, they received an offer by an individual going by the name of 'Sinister' in New Zealand, who proceeded to revamp the site and pay for hosting.

It was later discovered that the site was a hoax originated by Nick Woomer, then a 16-year-old from the Michigan suburbs whose knowledge of gangs came from movies, gangsta rap, and Alex A. Alonso's website on Los Angeles street gangs. Woomer created the original site, whose name came from the Glock pistol and the fact that there were three people involved.

The Glock pistol, sometimes referred to by the manufacturer as a Glock "Safe Action" Pistol or colloquially as a Glock, is a series of polymer-framed, short recoil-operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistols designed and produced by Glock Ges.m.b.H., located in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria. It entered Austrian military and police service by 1982 after it was the top performer on an exhaustive series of reliability and safety tests.

Despite initial resistance from the market to accept a "plastic gun" due to durability and reliability concerns, and fears–subsequently shown to be unfounded–that the pistol would be "invisible" to metal detectors in airports, Glock pistols have become the company's most profitable line of products, commanding 65% of the market share of handguns for United States law enforcement agencies, as well as supplying numerous national armed forces, security agencies, and police forces worldwide. Glock Ges.m.b.H. (trademarked as GLOCK) is a weapons manufacturer headquartered in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, named after its founder, Gaston Glock. While the company is best known for its line of polymer-framed pistols, it also produces field knives, entrenching tools and apparel.

Glock handguns are used by armed forces and law enforcement organizations worldwide, including a majority of law enforcement agencies in the United States. Glock handguns are also very popular with regular citizens for personal protection and practical shooting, and the company sponsors a competitive shooting team which travels worldwide. As of 2014, Glock produces more than two dozen models of handguns in three different sizes and seven different cartridges in three calibers.
