Globus Medical, Inc., based in Audubon, PA, is a medical device company focused on the design, development, and commercialization of musculoskeletal implants that promote healing in patients with spine disorders. It develops products that assist surgeons in effectively treating their patients, respond to evolving surgeon needs and address new treatment options. Globus Medical is a publicly traded company and is listed on the NYSE under the symbol GMED.

Products

The company's products are classified into two categories: Innovative Fusion and Disruptive Technologies. The Innovative Fusion products are uses in cervical, thoracolumbar, sacral, and interbody, corpectomy fusion procedures to treat degenerative, deformity, tumor, and trauma conditions. Globus Medical to date has developed a portfolio of spine products, releasing more than 100 products.

October 23, 2014 Globus Medical acquired allograft tissue processor Transplant Technologies of Texas, Ltd. (TTOT). TTOT is a provider of human tissue products including bone allografts, biomaterials, and soft tissue products for spine, orthopedics, sports medicine, dental, and wound care markets.

Globus Hypermarket Holding (Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding GmbH & Co. KG) branded as Globus is a German retail chain of hypermarkets, DIY stores and electronics stores.

History

In 1828 Franz Bruch (1801-1865) opened a grocery store in St. Wendel under his name. In 1865 Joseph Adam Bruch (1837-1905) continued in the management of the company. Joseph Karl Bruch (1873-1949), the grandson of the founder, took over the company from his father in 1905. Since then the company has developed from a retailer towards wholesale. On 1 February 1949 Joseph died. His two sons, Franz-Josef and Dr. Walter Bruch (1913-1999), took over the company, now converted to a limited-liability company. In 1953 the company opened its first self-service grocery at its headquarters under the name "A. Backhaus KG".

Globus is a retail clothing store chain, based in Mumbai, India. Its part of the Rajan Raheja Group. As of April 2012, the chain has 35 locations in 22 cities in India.

Globus was founded in January 1998. Its first location (at 35,000 square foot store) opened in Indore in June 1999, followed by two locations in Chennai. Its Mumbai flagship location opened in November 2001. By May 2008 the chain had expanded to 24 stores, and started a push to greatly expand the number of locations. The chain has previously announced bold plans to expand to a much larger number of stores, such as 150.

The chain was run by Ved Prakash Arya from its founding until March 2004.

Currently, it is run by Vinay Gajanan Nadkarni, who serves it as the Managing Director and CEO. Nadkarni, who took over from Arya in 2004, opened the 36th store in February 2013.

Kareena Kapoor became the brand ambassador in 2008, and planned to launch her own clothing line with the store.

In 2007, Globus created the world's largest Christmas stocking, which was 111 feet tall.
