Gisela!

Gisela! oder: Die merk- und denkwürdigen Wege des Glücks (German for Gisela! or: The Strange and Memorable Ways of Happiness) is an opera by Hans Werner Henze.

Background

It was first performed in the Maschinenhalle Zeche Zweckel, Gladbeck, Germany, on 25 September 2010 as part of the Ruhrtriennale music and arts festival by the contemporary music ensemble musikFabrik in collaboration with local youth groups and students of the Folkwang University, Essen. The work was commissioned 2008 by the Ruhr2010 (European Culture Capital 2010) and the Semperoper, Dresden,where it was performed on 20 November 2010. A performance lasts for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The conductor Steven Sloane (who was also the music director of the Ruhr2010 festival) first performed the work. Pierre Audi directed, the cast included Hanna Herfurtner as Gisela, Fausto Reinhardt as Gennaro and Michael Dahmen as Hanspeter. The Semperoper team included the conductor Erik Nielsen and the director Elisabeth Stöppler, with Nadja Mchantaf as Gisela, Giorgio Beruggi as Gennaro and Markus Butter as Hanspeter.

Gisela is a Peruvian monthly magazine, founded by TV host Gisela Valcárcel.

Founded in 1993, the magazine is sold nationwide and has become one of the most popular magazines in the country and one of the most read in metropolitan Lima (94,000 readers) and the third most read by women (79,500 readers)

In December 2008, after 15 years of circulation, the magazine was suspended because Valcárcel was working hard in Los Reyes de la Pista (Perú) but was relaunched in November 2010 under a new editorial team.

It has women's tips including: Fashion, business, cooking, erotism, dieting and actors' news.

Open Season (film series)

The Open Season franchise from Sony Pictures Animation consists of three films: Open Season (2006), Open Season 2 (2008), and Open Season 3 (2010), along with a short film Boog and Elliot's Midnight Bun Run (2007). A fourth film, titled Open Season: Scared Silly, is set to be released on home media in 2016.

In the tranquil town of Timberline, a 900-pound grizzly bear named Boog has his perfect world turned upside down after he meets Elliot, a one-antlered mule deer. After Elliot messes up Boog's nature show, they end up tranquilized by Boog's owner Ranger Beth and then her friend Sheriff Gordy tells her to release them into the Timberline National Forest before open season for only 3 days. But when hunting season comes, it's up to Boog and Elliot to rally all the other forest animals and turn the tables on the hunters. In the end, Boog decides to stay in the forest and says goodbye to Beth (who came back to take Boog home).

Gisela (singer)

Gisela (born January 1, 1979) is a Catalan pop singer and a Spanish dub actress. She was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, and became famous after placing eighth in the first Spanish edition of Operación Triunfo. Before the start of Operacion Triunfo, she was a student at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, studying journalism.

Career after Operación Triunfo

Her first album was Parte De Mí. It came out in Spain in 2002, selling 260,000 copies in a few weeks. Este Amor Es Tuyo, won the Viña del Mar International Song Festival contest in 2003 and also she won the award for best voice in the same edition. That year she also sang at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn with her friend Rosa López.

Her second album in 2003, Más Allá has five singles, including Más Allá (and Catalan version: Més enllà), the No.1 Sola and Amor Divino. Also in 2003, her version of Irene Cara's "What a Feeling" was included in an advert in the United Kingdom.

Ni te lo imaginas

Her third album, Ni te lo imaginas, came out in 2006, under a new record label (Filmax, rather than Vale Music). There were four singles off the album, the first and the third becoming Gisela's most successful so far in her career. The first was Turu-Turu, a pop ballad reaching No.1 in Spain on its second week. Filmax released a Special Edition version of the album, including two new songs, the first called Mi mundo eres tú and the second, Viviré en tus sueños.

Gisela, Abbess of Chelles

Gisela (757–810) was the daughter of Pepin the Short and his wife Bertrada of Laon. She was the sister of Charlemagne and Carloman. She was betrothed to Leo, the son of Byzantine Emperor Constantine V (the future Emperor Leo IV) but the contract was broken.

Charlemagne's biographer Einhard states that Gisela had been dedicated to religion since her childhood. She became a nun at Chelles Abbey, where she was eventually made abbess. As the abbess at Chelles Abbey, Gisela oversaw one of the most prolific nuns' scriptoria active in the 8th and 9th centuries. According to Einhard she had good relations with her brother Charlemagne, who "treated her with the same respect which he showed his mother." She died in 810 at the convent she had served for most of her life.

Charlemagne and his wife Hildegard named their daughter after Gisela. Gisela the Younger may have lived from 781 to 808, but little else is known of her life.
