Girl$

Girl$ (Chinese: 囡囡) is a 2010 Hong Kong film directed by Kenneth Bi, it deals with teenagers and young women drawn into compensated dating in Hong Kong. The Chinese term 囡囡 (nānān) is a traditional affectionate term for daughter or young girl, but has also become used as euphemism for a prostitute in Hong Kong.

History

Girl$ premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on 5 April 2010, before going on general release on 2 September 2010.

Plot

Gucci (Wong Si-Man) is a teenager who seeks to enhance her own self-image through the acquisition of luxury goods, bidding online for a designer handbag that she cannot afford. Looking for a way to make quick money she comes into contact with Icy (Michelle Wai). Just 19 herself, Icy acts as an online procuress, down to a single regular working girl, the hypersexual Lin (Una Lin), she offers to act as an agent for the underage Gucci's virginity, she also convinces Ronnie (Bonnie Xian) to go on compensated dates. Ronnie comes from a wealthy background however she finds herself alone and afraid of forming emotional attachments, wanting to avoid the stigma of being a prostitute, she instead pays the men she goes on dates with. Despite the differences in background the four become friends.

Sabre I

The first Sabre was a former knife thrower named Paul Richarde until he was selected by Modred to oppose Black Knight. Paul Richarde was given an armor, an animated gargoyle. and Mordred's Ebony Dagger (the weapon with which Mordred had killed the first Black Knight). He was defeated by Black Knight after his horse Aragorn kicked the dagger from Le Sabre's hand.

Sabre II

The second Sabre is a mutant super villain. His first appearance was in X-Men #106. Young and reckless, Sabre was chosen by Mystique to join her new Brotherhood of Mutants, though never actually participated in any missions. He had the mutant ability of super speed, and took the name of the deceased Super Sabre. It is unknown if he continues to serve Mystique behind the scenes, or if he even retains his powers after Decimation. Hyper-accelerated metabolism augments his natural speed, reflexes, coordination, endurance, and the healing properties of his body.

Sketch comedy

Sketch comedy comprises a series of short comedy scenes or vignettes, called "sketches", commonly between one and ten minutes long. Such sketches are performed by a group of comic actors or comedians, either on stage or through an audio and/or visual medium such as radio and television. Often sketches are first improvised by the actors and written down based on the outcome of these improv sessions; however, such improvisation is not necessarily involved in sketch comedy.

An individual comedy sketch is a brief scene or vignette of the type formerly used in vaudeville, and now used widely in comedy and variety shows, talk shows and some children's television series (such as Sesame Street).

Sketch comedians routinely differentiate their product from a "skit", maintaining that a skit is a (single) dramatized joke (or "bit") while a sketch is a comedic exploration of a concept, character or situation.

History

Sketch comedy has its origins in vaudeville and music hall, where a large number of brief, but humorous, acts were strung together to form a larger programme.

Sketch (Skins character)

Lucy Sketch (commonly known as Sketch) is a fictional character in British teen drama series Skins. She is portrayed by Aimee-Ffion Edwards.

Characterization

Sketch is portrayed as an obsessive and somewhat delusional Welsh girl. When officially first introduced in Sketch, she is seen to have a huge, bordering on pathological, infatuation with Maxxie Oliver, a boy with whom she goes to school. It is unclear when or how her infatuation developed, but several factors which can lead to obsessive love seem to have been experienced by Sketch. She harbors some rage towards her mother, who she feels has never looked after her properly due to her suffering from multiple sclerosis. On top of this, she seems quite distant from a lot of her peers and most likely has feelings of unworthiness or low self-esteem. She sees Maxxie as someone who can make her life much better, and is so 'in love' with him that she pretends to her mother that they're boyfriend and girlfriend. She also wears male clothing and flattens her chest with a sash to appeal to Maxxie, who is gay. She displays manipulative and deceitful behavior showing little regard for anyone she hurts in her delusional quest to become Maxxie's girlfriend. As her story progresses, she later shows some regret for how she acted, though continues to be besotted with Maxxie, and even enters into a relationship with Maxxie's friend Anwar Kharral, in hopes to stay close to him. Although her first name is Lucy, the episode title and all of her peers refer to her by her last name, Sketch.
