Ginza

Ginza (銀座) is a district of Chūō, Tokyo, located south of Yaesu and Kyōbashi, west of Tsukiji, east of Yūrakuchō and Uchisaiwaichō, and north of Shinbashi.

It is a popular upscale shopping area of Tokyo, with numerous internationally renowned department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffeehouses located in its vicinity. Ginza is recognized by many as one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world, attracting visitors and regulars alike from across the globe.

History

Ginza was built upon a former swamp that was filled in during the 16th century. The name Ginza comes after the establishment of a silver-coin mint established there in 1612, during the Edo period.

After a devastating fire in 1872 burnt down most of the area, the Meiji government designated the Ginza area as a "model of modernization." The government planned the construction of fireproof brick buildings and larger, better streets connecting Shimbashi Station all the way to the foreign concession in Tsukiji.

"Ginza" is a song performed by Colombian singer J Balvin, released as the lead single by Universal Music on July 17, 2015 for his upcoming fourth studio album.

A remix was released on November 27, 2015, which features Daddy Yankee, Farruko, Yandel, De La Ghetto, Nicky Jam, Arcángel & Zion of Zion & Lennox and in January released a new remix with Brazilian singer Anitta.

Ginza Stop

The Ginza Stop (Chinese: 銀座站) is a MTR Light Rail stop. It is located on the ground in the centre of Tin Shing Road (Chinese: 天城路) in Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long District. It began service on 7 December 2003 and belongs to Zone 4. It is the only station with Japanese name currently in the whole Hong Kong railway network. And it is one of the two Light Rail stops with Putonghua announcement broadcast.

The stop is near the Kingswood Ginza (Chinese: 嘉湖銀座), Kingswood Villas (Chinese: 嘉湖山莊) Phase 4, which includes 2 shopping centres and a cinema.

Like Tin Wing Stop, Tin Tsz Stop and Tin Shui Wai, it has 3 lines connecting it to other stops: 705, 706, and 751. Refer to the MTR Route Map for more information.

Tokyo (東京, Tōkyō, "Eastern Capital") (Japanese: [toːkjoː], English /ˈtoʊki.oʊ/), officially Tokyo Metropolis (東京都, Tōkyō-to), is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan, and is both the capital and largest city of Japan. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. "Tokyo" is a song by English indie rock band Athlete and is the third track on their 2007 album Beyond the Neighbourhood. The song was released as the second single from that album on November 19, 2007 (see 2007 in British music). The song charted at #198 making it Athlete's lowest charting single to date, partly due to a lack of promotion, and partly due to UK Chart guidelines discounting sales of the EP version (thus only sales of the 7" were counted).
