  • X2 (film)

X2 (often promoted as X2: X-Men United, or internationally as X-Men 2) is a 2003 American superhero film, based on the X-Men superhero team appearing in Marvel Comics, distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is the sequel to 2000's X-Men and the second installment in the X-Men film series. The film was directed by Bryan Singer, written by Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris, and David Hayter, and features an ensemble cast including Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Brian Cox, Alan Cumming, Bruce Davison, Shawn Ashmore, Aaron Stanford, Kelly Hu, and Anna Paquin. The plot, inspired by the graphic novel God Loves, Man Kills, pits the X-Men and their enemies, the Brotherhood, against the genocidal Colonel William Stryker (Brian Cox). He leads an assault on Professor Xavier's school to build his own version of Xavier's mutant-tracking computer Cerebro, in order to destroy every mutant on Earth.

Development on X2 began shortly after X-Men (2000). David Hayter and Zak Penn wrote separate scripts, combining what they felt to be the best elements of both scripts into one screenplay. Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris were eventually hired to rewrite the work, and changed the characterizations of Beast, Angel, and Lady Deathstrike. Sentinels and the Danger Room were set to appear before being deleted because of budget concerns. Filming began in June 2002 and ended that November. Most of the filming took place at Vancouver Film Studios, the largest North American production facility outside of Los Angeles. Production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas adapted similar designs by John Myhre from the previous film.

    Square (algebra)

In mathematics, a square is the result of multiplying a number by itself. The verb "to square" is used to denote this operation. Squaring is the same as raising to the power 2, and is denoted by a superscript 2; for instance, the square of 3 may be written as 32, which is the number 9. In some cases when superscripts are not available, as for instance in programming languages or plain text files, the notations x^2 or x**2 may be used in place of x2.

The adjective which corresponds to squaring is quadratic.

The square of an integer may also be called a square number or a perfect square. In algebra, the operation of squaring is often generalized to polynomials, other expressions, or values in systems of mathematical values other than the numbers. For instance, the square of the linear polynomial x + 1 is the quadratic polynomial x2 + 2x + 1.

One of the important properties of squaring, for numbers as well as in many other mathematical systems, is that (for all numbers x), the square of x is the same as the square of its additive inverse x. That is, the square function satisfies the identity x2 = (−x)2. This can also be expressed by saying that the squaring function is an even function.

  • Dimensional lumber, specifically a timber measuring 2 by 2 inches of any given length
  • Two-wheel drive, a designation of motor vehicle
  • 2by2 (lottery), a lottery game offered in US
  • 2x2 Project, a public health journalism initiative sponsored by the Department of Epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health
  • Pocket Cube the 2×2×2 version of the Rubik's Cube
  • Two by Twos, a non-denominational house church also known as The Truth, The Way and Cooneyites
  • Entertainment

  • Two By Two (Rugrats episode)
  • 2×2 (TV channel), a TV channel in Russia
  • Two By Two - short story by John Brunner written in 1956.
  • Music

  • Two by Two (musical), a 1970 Broadway show with music by Richard Rodgers
  • Albums

  • Two by Two (album), a 1983 album by Blue Zoo
  • 2 X 2, a 1989 compilation album of Milli Vanilli
  • 2 X 2, 1979 album of Indonesian Gigi
  • II x II, album by The Cowsills
  • Songs

  • "Two by Two", from the musical The Book of Mormon and the cast album
  • 2×2 (album)

2×2 is a double album by Milli Vanilli which was released in the United Kingdom in 1989. Disc one of the album contains the original European studio album All or Nothing, while disc two contains the All or Nothing remix album.

While in the U.S. Arista Records renamed, remixed and repackaged the first Milli Vanilli album All or Nothing as Girl You Know It's True and broke the act in that market with that method, in the U.K. BMG decided to issue both All or Nothing releases as a double album. This is evident in the cassette version of the release where one cassette has a label (covering the "All or Nothing" title typography) and the other cassette does not. Disc one and disc two also contain exactly the same "NY Subway Version" of "Girl You Know It's True" (lifted from the 12" single) despite the first disc version not being labeled so. Although it was not marketed as a package of two albums in the U.K., another tell-tale sign is the inclusion of two mixes of a non-single track "Dreams to Remember" and only one version of "Blame It on the Rain".

    Under the Red Sky

Under the Red Sky is the twenty-seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on September 10, 1990 by Columbia Records.

The album was largely greeted as a strange and disappointing follow-up to 1989's critically acclaimed Oh Mercy. Most of the criticism was directed at the slick sound of pop producer Don Was, as well as a handful of tracks that seem rooted in children's nursery rhymes. It is a rarity in Dylan's catalog for its inclusion of celebrity cameos by Jimmie Vaughan, Slash, Elton John, George Harrison, David Crosby, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bruce Hornsby.

    Dedication

The album is dedicated to "Gabby Goo Goo", later explained to be a nickname for Dylan's four-year-old daughter. This has led to the popular assumption that the album's more childlike songs were for her entertainment, something that has never been confirmed nor denied by Dylan.

    Reception

Dylan has echoed most critics' complaints, telling Rolling Stone in a 2006 interview that the album's shortcomings resulted from hurried and unfocused recording sessions, due in part to his activity with the Traveling Wilburys at the time. He also claimed that there were too many people working on the album, and that he was very disillusioned with the recording industry during this period of his career.

    You just can't mold me
I'll be what I wanna be
And I'll see what I wanna see
Even if two plus two you means three you can't hold me
    You know my name
    You got my number
    I'm just a somethin
    You wanna put under
    When I'm a walkin
    Down the empty street
    You put up a barrier
    That I have to meet
    You send me a message
    You want me to stop
    The things I'm takin
    From what you got
    Your talk-talk-a-talkin
    Bout what I do
    But ya better stop pushin
