Get It On (T. Rex song)

"Get It On" is a song by the British glam rock group T. Rex, featured on their 1971 album Electric Warrior. Written by frontman Marc Bolan, "Get It On" was the second chart-topper for T. Rex on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, the song was retitled "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" to avoid confusion with a song of the same name by the group Chase.

History

Bolan claimed to have written the song out of his desire to record Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie", and said that the riff is taken from the Berry song. In fact, a line (And meanwhile, I'm still thinking) of "Little Queenie" is said at the fade of "Get It On".

This was the song that virtually ended the once-solid friendship between Bolan and John Peel, after Peel made clear his lack of enthusiasm for the song on air after playing his advance white label copy. Bolan and Peel only spoke once more before the former's death in 1977.

During a December 1971 Top of the Pops performance, Elton John mimed a piano on the song. This performance is usually the video clip for the song which has aired on various music-video outlets such as VH1 Classic.

Out Works & Collaboration Best

Out Works & Collaboration Best is the fourth BEST album by Japanese pop/R&B singer Koda Kumi. It ranked low on the Oricon charts at #7, staying on the charts for eight weeks.

The CD did omit some collaborative efforts, including Till Morning Comes feat. VERBAL.

The first track, Get It On, was originally released as a digital download through mu-mo to those who had purchased all of the singles in Koda Kumi's 12 Singles Collection, which was apart of her BEST ~second session~ album. This song is the "full version" of the introduction from the same album.Get It On was originally released with its own single artwork and was even given a television advertisement through music.jp when it was first released in 2006.

The album was released on the same day as her second remix album, Koda Kumi Driving Hit's (KODA KUMI REMIX ALBUM was her first, released in 2006).

Robert Smith (Cumberland cricketer)

Robert Smith (born February 1, 1982) was an English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman who played for Cumberland.

Smith made a single List A appearance for the team, in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy in August 2001. He scored 3 runs in his innings, as opponents Warwickshire CB won by a narrow margin, thanks mostly to a century from Jim Troughton.

Robert Smith (professor)

Robert Sidney Smith (31 January 1919 – 29 November 2009 in London, England) was an expert on the history of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and was a Senior Lecturer and then Professor of History at the universities of Lagos, Ife and Ibadan. He was born on 31 January 1919. For many years he lived near Kew Gardens in London and died in London on 29 November 2009.

Smith studied and taught at the Institute of African Studies in the University of Ibadan in Nigeria from its foundation in 1962.
