Get It On (T. Rex song)

"Get It On" is a song by the British glam rock group T. Rex, featured on their 1971 album Electric Warrior. Written by frontman Marc Bolan, "Get It On" was the second chart-topper for T. Rex on the UK Singles Chart. In the United States, the song was retitled "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" to avoid confusion with a song of the same name by the group Chase.

History

Bolan claimed to have written the song out of his desire to record Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie", and said that the riff is taken from the Berry song. In fact, a line (And meanwhile, I'm still thinking) of "Little Queenie" is said at the fade of "Get It On".

This was the song that virtually ended the once-solid friendship between Bolan and John Peel, after Peel made clear his lack of enthusiasm for the song on air after playing his advance white label copy. Bolan and Peel only spoke once more before the former's death in 1977.

During a December 1971 Top of the Pops performance, Elton John mimed a piano on the song. This performance is usually the video clip for the song which has aired on various music-video outlets such as VH1 Classic.

Get It On (Intenso Project song)

"Get It On" is a single released by Intenso Project and former Steps member Lisa Scott-Lee in 2004. It peaked at number 23 in the UK Singles Chart, and failed to make any impact on the American charts.

History

The track was written and recorded before the team behind it had a record deal in place. Thus, when it was time to film the video, Scott-Lee and Intenso Project funded the video themselves. It was only after completion of the record and video that Ministry of Sound signed on to release the single. Despite numerous appearances to promote the song - it only managed to limp into the charts at 23. After being dropped by her label for a second single charting at number 11, Scott-Lee found this a personal blow and it greatly affected her future in music, including her decision to agree to quitting music upon a failure of a future top ten single.

"Get It" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder with a guest vocal by American pop recording artist Michael Jackson. Taken from his 20th studio album Characters, Jackson worked with Wonder eight years earlier for the song "I Can't Help It" for his Off the Wall album, which was written by Wonder and former Supremes member Susaye Greene, while Wonder worked with Jackson on his top-selling Bad album for the song, "Just Good Friends". Prior to "Get It", Jackson sung background vocals along with his brothers on Stevie's 1974 hit "You Haven't Done Nothin'", from his Fulfillingness' First Finale album and also did background vocal work on "All I Do" from the Hotter than July album. The single reached number four on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, number eleven on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, while reaching a peak of number 80 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

"Get It" is a song by Australian DJ and recording artist Havana Brown. It was written and produced by Cassie Davis and Snob Scrilla of production duo More Mega, and was released digitally on 9 September 2011.

Background and release

"Get It" was co-written and produced by Cassie Davis and Snob Scrilla of production duo More Mega, who had worked on Havana Brown's previous single "We Run the Night". In an interview with Jonathon Moran of the Daily Telegraph, Brown described the central theme of the track as a: "feel-good, party song... about going out there and having a good time", likening it to a "Las Vegas anthem". "Get It" was released digitally via iTunes Stores on 9 September 2011, as a non-album single. A digital extended play was also released via iTunes, featuring remixes of "Get It" and the RedOne remix of "We Run the Night". The recording debuted and peaked on the ARIA Singles Chart at number 38 on 25 September 2011. "Get It" also appeared on the ARIA Dance Singles Chart, peaking at number six.
