Generation Next

Generation Next was a professional wrestling stable in the Ring of Honor (ROH) promotion. Formed in Philadelphia, PA at the event Generation Next, on May 22, 2004, by Alex Shelley, the original Generation Next consisted of Shelley, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong and Jack Evans. Shelley was eventually kicked out of the group and replaced by Aries as the leader, who would later add Matt Sydal to the faction in the summer of 2005. On June 3, 2006 at Destiny, Aries officially disbanded Generation Next, with the four wrestling as a faction for one last time on July 29, 2006 at Generation Now.

History

Ring of Honor

Generation Next made its debut on May 22, 2004 during Ring of Honor (ROH)'s Generation Next show as a villainous faction. The event was originally going to partly consist of matches between up-and-comers in the ROH roster, and the wrestlers in these matches were to be voted on by those in attendance. The first match on the card was originally going to be a triple threat tag team match between the Christopher Street Connection, The Ring Crew Express and Special K when Alex Shelley, Roderick Strong, Austin Aries, and Jack Evans ran-in and broke the match up, declaring themselves "The Best that Ring of Honor has to offer" and trashing the ballots. Aries, Evans, and Strong then went on to challenge and defeat the aforementioned Special K in a six man tag team match while Shelley defeated another Special K member, Hydro, in a singles match afterwords. Later in the night, all four defeated The Briscoe Brothers, Jimmy Rave, and John Walters in an eight man tag team match.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX (遊☆戯☆王デュエルモンスターズGX, Yūgiō Dyueru Monsutāzu Jī Ekkusu, lit. "Game King Duel Monsters GX"), is an anime spin-off and sequel of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime. It aired in Japan on TV Tokyo between October 6, 2004 and March 26, 2008, and was succeeded by Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX follows the exploits of Judai Yuki (Jaden Yuki in the 4Kids version) and his companions as he attends Duel Academy. It was later dubbed in English by 4Kids Entertainment and a manga spinoff was created by Naoyuki Kageyama.

Plot

Taking place ten years after the events of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX follows a young boy named Jaden Yuki (Judai Yuki in the Japanese version) who attends Duel Academy, a special institute founded by Seto Kaiba which teaches young duelists all about the game of Duel Monsters. Using his Elemental Hero deck and a Winged Kuriboh card given to him by Yugi Mutou, Jaden makes various new friends and rivals and takes on many challenges in his quest to become the next King of Games.

Generation Next (BBC series)

BBC Generation Next was a week-long special running primarily on the BBC World Service but also on BBC Television aimed at understanding and exploring how under-18s view the world. The series ran from 2 to 10 December 2006, and broadcasters Darryl Morris & Kate Tozer presented the week long event, linking the shows and events together after being head hunted to do so by the BBC. Robin Lustig hosted a key five-part documentary for Generation Next on the World Service. As part of the series, the BBC also ran School Day 24, which linked up teenagers from schools across a divide (like in Kosovska Mitrovica between Serbs and Albanians or between rural, semi-urban and urban school students in the People's Republic of China) and The Next Big Thing, a competition to find the best teen band in the world.
