Monte Gelbison

Gelbison is a mountain in the Lucan Subappennines range of the Apennine Mountains system, with an elevation of 1,705 metres (5,594 ft). It is located in the southern Cilento region of the Province of Salerno, in the Campania region, of southern Italy.

The mountain is within the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.

Geography

Monte Gelbison is included in the commune of Novi Velia. The western part of the mountain includes several other communes, such as Vallo della Lucania, and ends at the southern Cilentan Coast in the Tyrrhenian Sea .

History

At its top is the sanctuary of Madonna del Monte Sacro, with a tall cross which is illuminated by night. The sanctuary perhaps occupies the site an ancient temple of the Oenotrians, dedicated to a deity later identified with Hera.

The name derives from a Saracen medieval presence, since it comes from the Arabic "Mount of the Idol", perhaps referring to the ancient sanctuary.

Mount (computing)

Mounting takes place before a computer can use any kind of storage device (such as a hard drive, CD-ROM, or network share). The user or their operating system must make it accessible through the computer's file system. A user can only access files on mounted media.

Overview

A mount point is a physical location in the partition used as a root filesystem. Many different types of storage exist, including magnetic, magneto-optical, optical, and semiconductor (solid-state) drives. As of 2013, magnetic media are still the most common and are available as hard disk drives and, less frequently, floppy disks. Before any of them can be used for storage, the means by which information is read and written must be organized and knowledge of this must be available to the operating system. The organization is called a filesystem. Each different filesystem provides the host operating system with metadata so that it knows how to read and write data. When the medium (or media, when the filesystem is a volume filesystem as in RAID arrays) is mounted, this metadata is read by the operating system so that it can use the storage.

Gelbison

Gelbison is an Australian pop rock band based in Sydney, and featuring the Kahn brothers Edo and Nadav - who also perform in Nations by the river.

History

The band's first album, 1704, was produced By Ian Ball of the British band Gomez.

Gelbison's second album, See the World, was released in 2004, and also featured Ian Ball on production duties, along with Ben Frost and Gelbison. A number of tracks, including "All the Rage" and "Holy", received significant rotation on Triple J. The album also featured a number well-known artists, such as Ben Lee, Old Man River, Ian Ball, and Luke Steele.

Gelbison severed ties with record label EMI in 2006 and worked on their third album towards the end of 2006 with J Walker of Machine Translations as producer. After recording with J Walker, the band decided to head back into the studio and record a new range of songs with producer Tony Buchen. Core members Edo and Nadav Kahn decided to conclude Gelbison and release these new songs under their new project Kahn Brothers, with their debut album Love Melts Fear released in April 2007 through Shakti/Interia Records.
