Geir Øystein Lysne (born 9 October 1965 in Trondheim, Oslo) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (saxophone), Composer and a famous Big band leder. He is the son of Dr. Ing. and Professor Dagfinn Lysne (1934–2000).[1]

Lysne has composed and arranged for orchestras, Big band, Corps choirs, small bands and electric acoustic music for solo instrument. His compositions have been performed in concert or on radio/TV in over 30 countries. Geir Lysne Listening Ensemble have released five albums, the last four on the German label ACT.[2]

Lysne has been conducter/director on tour with Bobby McFerrin, Joe Lovano, Stefano Bollani, Mory Kanté, Nils Landgren.[2] He is Associate Professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and is a highly sought guest lecturer in Europe.[3]
