Gavin Williams

Gavin John Williams (born 20 July 1980 in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan) is a Welsh international footballer who plays for Merthyr Town. Williams' younger brother Lewis is a winger with Pontypridd RFC.

Career

Hereford United

Williams started his career as a YTS player at Hereford United having previously trained with Cardiff City. He made his first team debut at the age of 17, as a substitute in the 3–0 FA Cup victory over Sittingbourne. He made twelve more appearances that season and scored his first goal against Dover Athletic in the Conference. By the 1998–99 season he was a first team regular playing in a variety of positions in midfield and up front. He was to spend five seasons at Edgar Street, notably scoring a wonder strike against Swindon Town in the 2001–02 FA Cup Second Round.

Yeovil Town

At the age of 21 he moved to Hereford's rivals Yeovil Town for the 2002–03 season, having rejected a new contract offer at Edgar Street. Hereford received a £22,500 fee for their leading goalscorer plus a 25% next sale clause, which earned the Bulls a further £62,500 in 2004.

Gavin Williams (rugby union)

Gavin Williams (born 25 October 1979 in Auckland) is a rugby union player from New Zealand, who plays for Stade Francais in the Top 14 and for Samoa internationally.

Williams previously played for Connacht, where he played from 2005 until the end of the 2006–07 season. After leaving Connacht, he went on to make his debut for Samoa in 2007 in a match against Fiji. Williams scored a try and conversion in Samoa's opening game in the 2007 World Cup.

After leaving Connacht, he played for US Dax before signing for Clermont.

Gavin Williams has a strong family connection in rugby with his father Bryan Williams, a strong winger who played for Auckland and New Zealand, and brother Paul Williams, who has represented the Crusaders, Highlanders and Blues in Super Rugby, and who also plays for Samoa internationally.

Gavin Williams (cricketer)

Gavin Anjez Williams (born 18 November 1984) is an Antiguan cricketer who has played for the Leeward Islands in West Indian domestic cricket.

Williams played a single match for the Antigua and Barbuda national team at the 2008 Stanford 20/20 tournament, against the U.S. Virgin Islands. His debut for the Leewards came in February 2010, against the Windward Islands in the 2009–10 Regional Four Day Competition. Against the same team during the 2010–11 season, Williams scored a maiden first-class century, 114 runs from 193 balls. He last played for the Leewards in March 2012, in the 2011–12 Regional Four Day Competition.
